It's pretty damn hard to start a new board.

Of course, it's technically easy to set up a board, but it's damn hard to turn it into an actual working board, because of the difficulty in attracting members and holding onto them.

It certainly would be if you were starting it.

Mind you, you could probably stop by Stormfront for a recruitment drive.....

Anyhoo, as for running a board, yes, it can be time consuming and a pain in the ass.

I'm not sure. I know Starscape's always been very free with speech, save for the illegal stuff, or stuff that could land the board in serious trouble.

"Spam free" and "over-run with ads and garbage" are not the only two options. There is a whole lot of space in between them.

In fact, they aren't even mutually exclusive, since TBBS tries to be "spam free" as far as posting is concerned, but has ads.

What's wrong with allowing some spam (posters who post silly and/or trivial things just for fun) while not allowing other spam (advertising bots, for example)? Why should one have to choose between "spam free" and letting the place be "over-run with ads and garbage"? WF is not at all over-run with ads and garbage (unless you count the posts of certain people...), but clearly is not spam free.

And I like that mix pretty well.

So, this board is by invite only? Does this thread constitute an invite to all of Wordforge? And what does it offer to Wordforgers that we don't already have right here? Is there free porn?

Hey everybody, just wandered back through because I tend to forget where I have been after a couple of minutes. Makes my days much more interesting. If anyone still cares about a dead thread...

1. Sorry about the wrong room business, I am not familiar enough with the intricacies of what goes where in these parts.
2. Spin-Flippery did in fact survive its infancy and continues as a small semi-private board. My original invitation was a courtesy post for those who frequent both here and places like Troll Kingdom.
3. Funny how hindsight reveals all naivete. The concept of the board morphed a number of times, as we all know free speech tends to go one of two ways: heated political arguments or monkeys throwing poo. We became something of a troll retirement home, then a cherry-picked group of interesting people from other boards, then a small insulated group some might call a masturbatory circle-jerk, or simply just a circle of jerks. We tried our hand at troll rehab; didn't take.
4. the real name reference was in regard to internet identity: no-proxies or sock puppets allowed.
5. No porn or arcades. sorry, if that's your thing there are places for it.

Please note this necro is not a recruitment drive, just a drive-by and a wave, while answering old questions. Hope everyone is good, I'll try to stick around and post some here and there.

Hey, I just thought of a new feature for Wordforge. Can we have a 'bury' function? So that if, say 75% of all members are tired of hearing your shit, we can bury that shit in a pile of zombies? I'd say just dropping by to mention a board is recruitment.

I read something from either you or Saint that reminded me of the joint and came through to see if I had ever actually registered and when I discovered I had, I looked to see what my old posts were and found this thread. Strictly not a recruitment drive. Doubtful anyone here would make the cut, and Gear is currently taking the joint apart piece by piece. Truthfully, I was actually just looking for a place where people still shoot the shit.
