true enough, as I'm still not 100% the teacher story isn't TLS style troll from our domestic alt right. THey aren't really trying to pass so much as lampoon... But what's really messed up is that this is happening at OTHS... We're talking the affluent side of an affluent suburb here (last check, there were no apartment buildings in the OTHS catchment radius-make of that what you will). That, and I'm not sure the two stories are related yet.

The lockdown has since been lifted. Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is still investigating, and there remains a heavy police presence in and around the school. OTHS has been in the limelight due to controversy regarding a teacher's dress code, which was specifically mentioned in the threats - sent over email. It was titled, "We placed several bombs all over your school." The email, a little over 200 words, includes demands to fire the teacher at the centre of the controversy, and death threats against school officials - specifically two. The town of Oakville was also threatened - "we will destroy the entire city." The threats were made with the supposed goal of protecting children. This is the second bomb threat OTHS has received in less than two months. It's been reported that the email was sent to 10 recipients, three of whom were journalists. didn't realize there'd been an earlier bomb scare :o
I don't remember the source or the details but I remember a claim being made that the ridiculous teacher was deliberately trolling...a dress code? or something? Anyway, more to the story than got reported very much
same... that the whole thing is a troll of trans protections. KL (the teacher) was well known for alt right views prior to this and had several student complaints over propagandizing in the classroom. There's some connections to Ezra Levant and the RebelNews (our OAN) as well
WELP. This is an entirely unexpected development, amirite? The "trans teacher with giant prosthetic breasts" story that dominated the culture wars according to neighbors is not in fact trans and presents as a man in his every day life The school, IMO, was still unacceptably credulous and let this bozo take the stunt well beyond any dress code that would have applied to a female teacher. But once again we see - turns out the accused wasn't trans at all.
My guess would be the union and board saw this charade for what it was and agreed not to create a cause for a grievance made in bad faith.
Even though I am personally not thrilled with professional gatekeepers, they are needed. If in order to be in school as a woman going into female spaces he was required to live his entire life as a woman and be on track for SRS through the use of HRT and by seeing a gatekeeping trans therapist this problem would have been nipped in the bud. Just letting some person say they are trans and jump into female spaces while making a mockery of it all by wearing an obvious costume is going to do damage to the credibility of the trans community by allowing jokers like this to try to make it all a joke. If you want to take it slow and dip your feet into things, then you can also stay out of female spaces (or vice versa) until you are ready to make the full commitment. I figure that legitimate trans people will realize they are empowered by dipping their toes in and go for further commitment while those people who don't will find things like drag and being genderqueer more to their liking. In the end we should destigmatize crossdressing and abuses towards people who do not fit gender norms.
