Are you kidding? He's trying to come up with some bizarre caveat about cropping being some privacy issue and it's being taken seriously?

How a gas tank reveals anything at all is beyond me. If there is a need to 'punish' me over such nonsense then please, do and let's get it over with.

As for privately dealing with it....he never said one word to me privately and still hasn't. He doesn't care about the picture all he cares about is trying to find something....anything to "get" me with. I guess telling everyone my full name wasn't enough since nothing really came of it from his point of view.

So if this is really being entertained, then I am clearly guilty. I had no idea how the picture is cropped was part of the "rule". I had the pic and I didn't use it here or TK for that matter until he used it as an avatar. If I had known it made a difference I wouldn't have used it.

A WF member is complaining that another member made some PM info public. Specifically an uncropped photo.

Tamar Garish, you are that other member.

If this is simply a personal affair between members then you two should be the ones wrangling over whether this is a mountain or a molehill.

Again, is there any way you two could resolve this issue in private?

    So . . . that's a picture of 14thDoc? And that's what the fuss is about?

Oh please. A picture of a guy eating a hotdog in front of a gas pump is hardly a compromise of personal information.

This complaint should be treated like any other. I agree seeing a gas pump isn't much in the way of personal information but that's not a decision for the staff. Every member should be confident in the separation between private messages and public posts.

What's cropped in the avatar version?

The gas pumps mostly from what I remember.

Fine...punish me for this but just wait for the precident to set in when it gets out.

Every picture crop is a seperate entity that people can try and play games like this with. Every tree in the background of a photo is "personal information". This is as ludicrous as the manta ray garbage....and what a surprise it's coming from the same guy. :jayzus:

No new precedent. We've always had a clear distinction between info shared via PM and info shared with the forum as a whole.

No game. Private messages are private. Now in this specific case I can see why one wouldn't think it was a big deal. One member PMs a photo to another member, the sender then uses a cropped version of said photo as an avatar. The PM receiver then posts the uncropped photo. Not exactly posting another member's home phone number yet I'd rather keep the privacy policy simple, let members decide when and if to share private info.

Else we'll be stuck with some elaborate BBS lawyerball nonsense about what is and what is not private information.

This sounds like personal issue between you two, and twice now I've asked if you two could work this out on your own.

I suspect all it would take to diffuse the entire situation is a bit of communication between you two. A bit of acknowledgment that you both have a valid point. As it stands, your insistence of no wrong doing is only inflating the problem. And let's be honest, when the rubber hits the road, you are the one who shared PM info.

So how big of a mountain do you want to make out of this potential molehill?

So this picture originated in a PM? Still . . . it's a context-less image. There's no "message" in it. I'm not seeing how this is actually an issue, except as something shared in confidence now released "into the wild" without permission. Is that the case?

I have not been contacted for there to be any "private resolution". He has said not word one about it to me at all.

All he had to do was contact me and ask me to remove it and I would have. I'm easy-going and was just having fun with it...after he used it as an avatar. He even mocked me at TK for posting that picture there because he was using it as his avatar here.

Why in the world would I think it's an issue because it was cropped for size? It's ludicrous. Yes, I had the full size pic from a PM and believed him using it as an avatar was "releasing it". Why would I think the fact it had to be cropped to fit the avatar restrictions made some kind of difference? The only personal information in the picture is his face and it is in both versions! :jayzus:

Why is it such a huge deal? Who cares? You're acting like he punched you in the face Tamar, he's just asking that you remove it.

I'm not really seeing an issue here that we need to do anything about, just trying to understand OMG TEH DRAMAS this time.

Ummm...Nick....no one has asked me to remove anything.

This is what I am saying...14thDoctor has never said one word to me about a problem.

And it is because he really doesn't care...he is hoping to find some kind of loophole to "get" me on.

He's never asked me anything. Neither has Lanz or anyone else. I am simply explaining myself and waiting for the verdict.

14th Doctor might be trying to push the rules and get by on technicalities, but really you can't blame him.

We have already established with the whole incident surrounding his name that we are going to be sticklers regarding exactly what someone has and hasn't revealed about themselves so it's probably best to just remove/crop the photos and be done with it.

Tamar, why don't you go back and remove that pic from your post? 14thDoc whines enough without giving him another brick to throw at us. Seems like the easiest fix to me.

Having said that, I still don't get what the fuss is about.

I removed it from my post.

I love this clown. He whines about his so-called "personal information" and then does everything he can to reveal other people's real information...like their names and employment information.

Don't worry about it. Guys like this will inevitably do something stupid enough to get themselves banned at some point.
