From my vantage point, you need this school you're working for far more than I think you're willing to accept. But honestly, I'd listen to that voice in your head to try out a new career. Not trying to flame you, but it doesn't seem like the teaching thing has worked out all that well for you.

Arguably nothing has worked out for him. Even the jobs he's been sacked from have never turned out to be a resounding success or ones he's been patient enough to stay in. Arguably his arrogance and sense of self importance have played a huge downfall in his lack of progress. Had he matured enough years ago to learn that it is sign of strength of character, not weakness, to be able to accept and employ the advice of others he'd likely not find himself in this position, even if he's not the brightest spark in the box.

I really don't know why you bother trying to help him. He's proven he neither wants it or in any way appreciates it. His terrible track career record has harmed the financial and locational stability of his family, and I don't think it's any wonder that his daughter doesn't seem interested in studying when the example he has set for his family is one of repeated mediocrity and of doing just enough to scrape by while living in a delusional dream world.

Why doesn't he answer the question above regarding the position of Head Coach? I'll tell you why, it's because he thinks he'll get it just because he's Dayton Kitchens and you know, everyone looks at Dayton and thinks he's pretty wonderful (at least in the goldfish bowl fantasy in his head). But ask him what he's learned from his failure to get the role at previous schools? What he's done to correct the mistakes this time around and put him in with a better shout? It's highly unlikely he will be able to tell you, and if he does chances are he'll tell you it wasn't entirely his fault he wouldn't have succeeded anyway as people were against him.

He's a hamster on wheel going around and around and around in circles. He has his opinions and desires and he wants the world to be one massive echo chamber that will provide him with all he wants on a plate. He's absolutely and totally detached from reality and until he can break out of that bubble you will never convince him of anything. You are like a butterfly trying to break through an ego shield of steel. Personally I don't think he will ever emerge from that bubble. The older he gets the further in he goes.
