    All,

I locked (at his request) Megatron's account a long while back.

Of course, he was here as ATROCITUS and was banned as a duel. Now, I am getting word he wishes to come back as Megatron.

Since I don't have any reason to keep him out, I'm inclined to open the account. But I wanted to give everyone here a chance to opine first.

He got banned for using Blue Room info to troll in the Red Room.

OTOH, he's been sitting out since around 1 March, so it's been way longer than the usual two-week "cool off with that shit" period. And in any event, Megatron being Megatron, he'll stupid himself into another ban, probably before 2012 turns into 2013, so let's let him back and watch the fun.

    What's everybody else think?

The better question is, when he's not stupiding himself into a ban, what positives does he bring to the board?

Every promise and agreement he ever made as a perquisite to coming back he has broken over and over and over.

He's not here to participate, he's here to be a racist asshole because his real life is so structured and controlled. He will never behave like a civilized person because this is his personal shit box.

Your board and your decision but be aware that you are purposefully inviting his brand of shit back because he will never stop it. Any promise he makes isn't worth the time it takes to read it.

I cannot find anything in this post to disagree with.

Me neither, but he'll stir the pot a little and, if he gets too out of hand (and, yes, I know he will), we can just ban him again.

I don't think that's really fair to the person he ends up deciding to target with personal information. As you said, you know he will fuck up, given that we know that, it doesn't seem right to let him loose.

    Okay, then raise the stakes.

How about let him back with the caveat that a personal info violation--no matter how small or oblique--means permanent expulsion?

Or just make it so that he doesn't have access to personal information.

Keep him out of the Blue Room.

I guess I would agree to give him another chance sans Blue Room access.

If he goes back to abusing PMs, he should lose that, too.

    :sigh:

Can't say I'm looking forward to the ALL CAPS RACIST AND HATRED EXTRAVAGANZA!!!!!! he seems to live for with such gusto.

Would someone remove Megatron's Blue Room access? Either I can't do it or I can't make the change take effect (I uncheck "Blue Bloggers" in Mod).

Maybe an Admin had to do it. It's unchecked now.

We will have to monitor it frequently to make sure he doesn't join it again unless there is some way to keep him from signing up for it again? Nick? O2C?

When whoever contacts him to let him back in (I didn't unlock him yet) needs to let him know he is not welcome in the Blue Room and if he tries to join again, or gets other people to tell him information from the room and he uses it he will be banned for at least a year if not permanently.

Why do I just know we are going to live to regret this?

Don't do it. If memory serves, I banned him permanently for, among other things, breaking every "promise" he'd ever made when returning. He only came back when Lanz offered amnesty as the new owner. It's a headache you don't need.

Elwood agreed to give him one more chance to pay respects to Techman when I told him about this PM sent to me at TK.

As you can see, he plays super-civil suck up, lies his ass off and then comes back here to shit all over the place. He's never failed to do it since WF began, which is why I say allowing him back is choosing to embrace his crap because there is a 0% chance that he will actually behave himself more than five minutes.

See, that's where I failed. I let The Flashlight and Tasvir back so they could pay their respects to Techman. I was lazy and I failed to reban them. After a few days, the issue was moot. I didn't want to deal with the headache of rebanning them because most posters had accepted that they had been reprieved. I just didn't want to deal with the fuss and drama.

Three Big Problems with this Thread:

    • DNR threads are a no go
    • A staff member is again violating a well established privacy rule
    • Racism in the Red Room has always been allowed

As for the thread question, of course Megatron's account should be unlocked. It was locked by request, it should be unlockable by request as well.

No member should be held to such a standard. You don't have to bring anything positive to participate.

Not at Wordforge, so I don't care.

As for the "locked by request" thing, Tas came back under a dual (Atrocitus), proceeded to act like he always fucking acts, and got himself banned again. So I feel no particular need to unlock another dual account for him.

Besides, PMs/personal information being discussed among the staff is the biggest reason this forum is hidden. I have violated nothing.

The reason it is marked DNR....the reason that tag still exists....is a reminder to Lanzman that the PM is removed before the thread is publicly released. Which is the current proper use of it.

Every member is held to that standard at least for awhile...

    3. Coming in flaming and spamming without any prior contribution may result in an immediate ban.

Then you've changed the privacy rules.

We've had a clear policy of not sharing any information not already shared on Wordforge.

    Your call.

    Flat out false.

Do I really need to find the thread where we all agreed to not start anymore DNR threads?

It is not false...personal information and PMs have been discussed in here many, many times over the years.

Yeah, your going to have to find that thread because as far as I know the DNR tag exists so personal shit can be discussed but the parts that need to be kept private can be removed before public release. We agreed not to have whole threads that never got released.

Anything else makes no sense...there are just simply times we need to discuss something in here that the details don't need to be publicly disseminated.

Whatever Lanzman chooses to do about Tasvir, I'll support. It's his board and his dime.

No. We have not posted member PMs many, many times in the Shelter.

No and yes, I'll offer honest feedback regardless of decision, cuz you know, honest feedback is a good thing. Yet I do agree that Lanzman is the board owner and has the final say.

As for post icons being indicative of board policy? I gotta disagree.

You said there was a thread proving your point, are you going to post a link to it?

I never said feedback was a bad thing, ever.

As for PMs it has happened a lot...I know I was here for it. It certainly hasn't been lately, this is true, but in the past it has. Maybe it was more before your time.

It's probably irrelevant anyway, as that particular PM I've posted at Wordforge in the past in the Red Room during an argument with Tasvir where he gave me permission to post it. That was ages ago though and I think the thread was purged at some point.

My only evidence this happened is another post, where Faceman quoted that posted PM in one of his threads and it isn't even commented on because it was known to not be private. That is here:
