Tragic in an abstract sense, but this is what happens with drug addicts and alcoholics. They die. No reason to feel sorry for him. He had people trying to help him for decades get off the drugs/booze, and he chose the path of self-destruction. He lived the life he chose, and he came to the predictable end.
He was just about exactly twice the age as the dude who lived across the street from me...he died at 30 from a heroin overdose recently. At least Jeff had a long life with a few second chances. And my neighbor never boned Marilu Henner.
