I'm just gonna cut you off right there and say yes, we did need a Road House remake

Although it will probably be impossible to be better than the Patrick Swayze classic, those are tough ass kicking shoes to fill

Looks like they gave Connor McGregor a shitload of blow and just told him to rage, genius move IMO

I'm curious to see if they will include what is arguably the best line in movie history from the first movie.....

"I fucked guys like you in prison."

OK, watched this tonight. It is not the first one, but it is a good remake. Unlike the first one it is not homoerotic. It is UFC erotic. They rtry to throw in a little zen fight guy philosophy, but Dalton has other reasons to try to keep himself calm. They remove Sam Eliot's character. They make just enough changes so it is not the same movie, but also so it has enough of the original idea and barfight scenes. They do skimp on the romance, bromance, and boobies. Dalton and the romantic lead have no sex scene, and there is no real training of the other bouncers. I am pretty sure we learned more about the comic relief bad guy than any of the bouncers. There were 2 of them. I call them white kid and black kid because they did not do much.

The villains are very 80's. Rich yacht guy hires a bunch of goons to get beaten up by Dalton, and spends most of his time on a boat abusing his people on his yacht despite being the biggest golf polo wearing weakling of the movie. All in all Dalton does not do much until the end. I will give his fighting choreography compliment and the filmakers did a fun job with camera work and audio effects to simulate getting hit in the head a bunch, and following people through some wrestling moves. It might make you ill if shaky cam bothers you, but they did add some fun to the fights.

There will be a part deux. The main bad guy has a dad in prison who we never meet, but he is involved. So he is left alive and he seems to be the guy with all the minions of exceptional strength so they did set up the second movie while giving the first one some closure.

There is not much to it aside from getting from fight to fight, so it does drag when they are not fighting. We got the plot, so I want to see people punch each other.

It does have the third best use of a metallica song I can remember. 1st was Stranger things using MoP. The second was Blue eye Samurai using for who the Bell Tolls. This one used the opening of Enter Sandman, and it is used well, but there is not much of it. You just know the end is coming when you hear the rif. You already knew it was coming, but it does help amp the moment for anyone who hears it.

there was much less kicking as I am sure Jake is not twirling swazy dancer that patrick was. much more punching, wrestling throws, and catching knives with his kidneys.

Jake is a little more rambo tough guy than Patrick. The first fight we see in the movie the guy comes up and stabs him. He does not block it. Instead he catches the knife with his abs. The guy plunges the crocodile dundee knife into him and he takes it way by leaving it in his belly. Then the guy runs away for a second time. He had already run out of the fight club when jake took off his hoodie. There was not even a punch.

Then the scene gets really weird.

This movie has some machismo levels that are Rambo level bullshit. I like it because I like unrealistic action heroes. However, this is going to speak to UFC dunderheads a bit too much. I am not one to say do not make a movie because some idiots are going to hurt themselves because they think they are this guy, but this movie is going to inspire them more than the first because UFC Incels are a thing. If you overhear some drunk dudes in a bar talking about this flick just find another dive bar. Nothing good can come of that.

Do not go into the movie expecting anything but over the top fighting and pure machismo without the boobies of the first movie. There is no female eye candy to this movie like there was in the original. Not that the women in it are bad, but the first movie had a number of bimbos, and they really are not here or not zoomed in on if they are.
