Yep, Rob Zombie is doing The Munsters movie. Of course he casts his wife as Lily Munster. https://movieweb.com/the-munsters-movie-rob-zombie-grandpa-munster-wig-work/
This could be a decent comedic dark comedy which does not step on the legacy of the well done addams family. I do not want to see an Addams family movie without the amazing cast we got. The munsters could be their own thing and be a hit. Someone lock Rob Zombie up in some form of crate and let him rot as intended. I have absolutely no confidence in his ability to do this well. He cannot even do good things with titles in his realm. No no no no fucking no and no again. I really do not care so much about the munsters, but who the fuck is still letting this guy do shit in the movies? Dear Rob, do the fucking music and music video thing. You suck at horror movies because they are more than creepy cosplay.
From the look of the actors, this is a very straight reboot of the TV series. But it couldn't be that. No one under 40 even remembers The Munsters. Making a straight reboot wouldn't appeal to the all-important 18-25 demographic. And it's a Rob Zombie film, so... Is it going to be ultra-violent and gory? While maintaining the TV show aesthetic? I guess I'll have to see when it gets served up, but, for now, I'm very dubious.
i didn't think you smoked weed? because this really sounds like somethng I've almost done a few times, but unless I'm at work, I'm usually lit.
Elvira is in it as a prim and proper real estate agent. Okay, NOW I'm interested! https://www.darkhorizons.com/elvira-star-peterson-joins-the-munsters/
OK, so this shit has dropped on netflix and it is the first movie. I have gotten to about 1/3 into it and I am going to say not bad with a caveat. If you do not like dad jokes and a 1970's sitcom style with some money for set and make up effects then this is not for you. Zombie has it right with his vision of the style and puns. It is not for everyone, and it might get old real fast. This is glam goth camp comedy. It is cute in it's way, and they seem to be having some good fun with it. It is like the poor lower class version of the adamms family, which is a bit of what the munsters were. The setup is not explained, and some knowledge of the show takes away from the moment as I was trying to figure things out. So it could use some simple exposition. The movie starts with how Herman was created and fell in love with Lilly. So they are setting up that story and history. Previous knowledge of what The Musnters were should be thrown out as they establish it as a whole new thing. I do not think this will be for everyone, but if you were a fan of the original I think this will give you a few laughs and be a fun movie. Even if the original was something you occasionally watched and enjoyed this is just a movie so far and it enhances the original in style and fun. If you did not like the original pass on by.
I don't remember much about the original show, but the cast doesn't quite live up to the original. The guy playing Grampa Munster is probably the best of them. The movie should have been a lot shorter and the jokes are too corny. This is pretty much a prequel to the show. It's not terrible, but I definitely wouldn't pay to see this in theaters. I think I like what they've done with The Adams Family over the years a whole lot better.
