Coming out today for 360 and PS3 in the US. December 17 for Canada, and Q1 2008 for Australia and Europe.

I'm picking it up after work. Who else is getting it?

Looks pretty cool, except for the microphone part.

    The drums seem most appealing.

I think the mic part seems like one of the coolest. I mean, who hasn't sung along to their favorite rock songs in the car? I do every morning.

    Exactly.

And also women really like sing-a-long games like Karaoke Revolution. Get one of your girl friends over your place and have her handle the vocals while you and your guy friends jam out. :sokar:

I used to play Karaoke Revolution with my friends when that first came out, so the mic part is nothing new to me.

Yeah, but Karaoke Revolution had shit like Madonna on it. There was only one song I enjoyed, "You Really Got Me".

Personally I think "You Really Got Me" is a crap song and not very difficult to hit the notes, which is what the game was based off of, not the lyrics. Madonna on the other hand is actually challenging for a man to pull off, as was Cindi Lauper, you're only jealous because you lack the vocal control to perform well. :P

There are much less lame ways to pick up/spend time with girls.

I'm not a karaoke fan, different strokes for different folks I guess.

Oh, I can perform. I'm actually a fairly decent singer. I just hate, hate, hate Madonna, and Cindi Lauper et al. I don't care about the challenge, I just wanna have fun.

Obviously, you haven't discovered the true power of the Nintendo Wii ;)

You could go out to a club and go dancing, but then again you probably have DDR for that, don't you Rosencrantz?

Bailey hit the caps lock key again, he must be trying to mock an imagined pissing contest that only he sees.

I dunno, I just bought GH3 and it has not lost its luster in the slightest and I can get two games for the price of Rock Band. One of those games will be Mass Effect and the other will probably be Kane & Lynch.

Though this game does look fun, I don't have three other people who would want to devote more than 10 minutes to jamming out with me.

That's what I'm saying, for 175 dollars I can get a shit load of other stuff that I'd rather have. GH3 is fine(although I'm tired of the songs already).

You're playing on the Wii right?

I considered downloading the song packs for GH3 on my 360, but I really don't know/care who Velvet Revolver is and am only mildly interested in Foo Fighters.

Ya I have GH3 on the Wii, but I have a PS3 so I could get Rock Band if I wanted.

Velvet Revolver is the closet thing to real music coming out of today and that's because they are a combination of 2 bands from a era when music was still good.

Is it really? You must have missed the joke in its context, I'll explain it really slow so you can get it.

    You said this:
    Powa said this:
    You replied with this:
    To which I said this:
Now the funny part that must have eluded you was that I was making a point about your thought process- you related all the good times you could have to videogames and so when I made a suggestion about something you could do to actually get outdoors (albeit just to go to a club) I reminded myself that you have a videogame proxy of the activity that never requires you to leave your house.

In a nut shell, you're a fat, lazy, probably smelly, game freak. Like the rest of us.

You take shit way too seriously, Locust. Aren't you the same guy who got pissy with me because I played a D&D game with a serial killer character?

yeah. You take shit too seriously.

    Back on topic, though.....

Rock Band kicks ass! :yes2: I was rocking out all last night on the drums. Very addicting, but my leg hurt after a while from hitting the bass drum pedal.

yes, Rock Band is awesome. My friends and I were all in the band together in high school, but we found that doesn't quite count for much in this game :(

All D&D characters are serial killers. You think those orcs wanted to die?*

*: Well, actually, judicious use of charm magic can actually cause the orc to "want" to die. But why waste spell slots on that rather than SMD?

I was disgusted by the counter-productivity of killing ones own team mates.

You again fail to realize when I'm joking. You might be surprised by how little I do take seriously.

There you go again. Disgusted at the actions of someone you've never met, playing a game you won't take part in. I'm sorry, I really can't help you out there.

The game itself is awesome but the one I've been playing has one of the defective guitars. So we submitted for the replacement to be sent and EA Game support says there is a 2 day turn around. Guess we'll see. I'm really bad at drumming. I beat the game on easy but get my ass kicked on medium. The singing is really easy, I guess it's because I have a very lovely voice. :D

I was beating all the guitar songs on expert when the strum started sticking and then I couldn't beat the easiest songs on hard. Every time I would strum down the thing would stick and slowly come back up so I would miss every other note on most hard songs. That part was quite annoying.

I guess I'll go back to drumming until the new guitar shows up. The songs in this game are easier than they are in GH3. I went into expert after only a day of tooling around with the game. So far I love it.
