Or just another example of being stuck in a category with a too-easy label?

    link

Since this ad is from his campaign, it doesn't seem like he's making a huge effort (at this time) to clarify his position any further than that he's against abortion.

Yeah. I knew it, too. It just seems now is a good time for him to start trying to clarify his position. With his rise in popularity among Republicans (and visibility among undecideds), he's eventually going to be confronted with it anyway. He'd just as well do it now, on his own terms.

If it's any consolation, when Obama is reelected, you'll be able to get all of the abortions you want. If you can afford one after the economy crashes.

If you think the womb is a righteous political battle ground, you're no fucking libertarian and I'll never see you as a viable candidate.

Yeah, with his feet firmly planted in helping people who want it while leaving them alone as don't want it, I just can't get behind the guy. I'd much rather get behind someone like Bachmann, who's going to shove her ethics down our throats whether we want it or not, or Obama, who's going to use every possible sneaky, underhanded way of doing the same.

This isn't exactly news, unless you've paid literally no attention thus far.

His pro-life position is rather deeper than the other candidates, but politically far more tolerable. Unlike others in the race, he's not in favor of a federal ban on abortion.

Plus his commitment to life doesn't end at birth - he's against the federal death penalty and neither wants to send troops off to foreign lands to be killed, nor wants to bomb and kill massive numbers of foreigners to punish their governments.

That strikes me as principled and tolerable.

^ This is the kind of message that's harder to get across with the sound-bite nature of the political process we have. It certainly can't get done in a 30 second / one minute TV ad.

He's not as stereotypically pro-life as, say, Bachman but he runs the risk of being lumped in with her by voters still trying to make a choice (for good or ill.)

Personally, I'm pro-Abortion all the way. Too many people in the world as it is. Illegal aliens should be the first group to be forcibly sterilized. Next would be those on welfare. After that, all minorities, sterilized. Then everyone else, sterilized. Given the odds that not all sterilizations would take, once everyone on the planet has undergone the procedure, those whose bodies were hearty enough to defeat sterilization would repopulate the planet, leaving enough resources for the survivors' descendants that there would be no privation, no crime and no war. Perfect world.

Please. Like there was no privation, crime, or war before the planet had a billion people. Or even a million for that matter. Well, maybe no war before a million.

    War before a million?

Of course there was. It just wasn't large and organized like it is now.
