    You can't kill a Toyota.
Top gear tryed..dropped a tower block on it and still started.

Just seen a news flash that Russia isn't going to support the UN security council resolution now.

    Yes. :bergman:

Imagine if Patton had been allowed to rearm the Krauts and 'keep the tanks rolling to Moscow.'

    Czechoslovakia agrees!

    Full escalation to what?

Why would not just be a regional war?

    I disagree.

And neither is Rummy, the guy behind that policy.

Really? I thought that once uparmored they were even worse than HMMWVs.

Oh yeah, like that's a real comparison!

I meant better in road handling in urban areas, mpg and speed and transporting them to the area.

Some of them have a little bit of armour that should stop small arms fire, nothing short of a tank will take a IED hit.

And once you add the armor that all goes to shit. Like the HMMWV, although I had heard it was even worse with Snatches.

    :flow2:

Tanks don't take IEDs well at all. Flat hulls, little armor underneath, and exposed treads. Graywolf lost some 40 something of them in Baqubah before we got there.

Humvees were designed because Americans like to haul stuff and were tired of the little 1/4 tons that we'd been using since WWII. Plus, we wanted good offroad capability.

A Humvee can carry five times that amount (and often more). I've seen photos of Humvees being used as prime movers for 105mm howitzers.

Oh we will get China involved.......

We will blow up that dam and make it look like the Russians did it. ;)

"At oh-eight-hundred hours, station time... the Chinese formally declared war against Russia. They've already struck fifteen bases along the Russian border. So it's a huge victory for the good guys... perhaps the turning point of the entire war. There's even a "Welcome to the Fight" party tonight in the wardroom. I lied. I cheated. I bribed men to cover up the crimes of other men. I was an accessory to murder. But most damning of all... I think I can live with it... And if I had to do it all over again... I would. Garak was right about one thing – a guilty conscience is a small price to pay for the safety of the world. So I'll learn to live with it...Because I can live with it...I can live with it. Computer – erase that entire personal log."

:salute: I owned a white Toyota pickup like that back in 1983 or so.
Loved it...cheap, simple, tough as nails and very low maintenance.

Anyway, when I went to Iraq I was shocked to see thousands of white Toyota pickups....they love them there!

Africa uses a lot too - virtually nobody in Europe drives a pickup unless they are a farmer.

    Shit, they're digging in.

News Hour just said Russia is "going to have to respond with more than diplomacy" in one of their statements.

We may well be going in, especially if their rhetoric turns to action towards any NATO member. Though Poland isn't a member per say, any attacks of them will surely result in some real fireworks.

John Isaacs is such a twat. :jayzus:

Thing is, would Russia honestly fight back if NATO, as a whole, responded?

Talking about a combined France, German, British, Australia, Canada, US, Poland, Spain, Turkey, Greece, etc, etc force. Would Russia even stand a chance?

We just have to make sure they on are opposite flanks.

Here's a question for military historians. Have two countries at war with each other ever jointly fought a third?
