Now to go along with their consistently terrible programming these days they have a terrible name to complete the package! Nerd qualities I may have but "pissed" might not be the correct term, more like "mildly disgusted by terrible branding"? http://warmingglow.uproxx.com/2009/07/sci-fi-becomes-syfy-today-nerds-pissed/
I'll take mildly disgusted too. Also disappointed, and frustrated at the level of stupidity a once decent channel has fallen to.
Yes, but Eureka starts this Friday! Woo-hoo! I've been waiting forever to find out what happens to Carter.
Since BSG ended there really hasn't been any good reason to go there EXCEPT to watch SG-1 reruns, I mean what else worth watching do they really have running right now?
It sounds as stupid to me as the "Skiffy" that some dorks use. I can sorta understand if you're saying that to someone IRL, but to actually type it out on a keyboard is pretty pathetic.
I tried watching Farscape recently. Gave up after episode 2. Didn't hate it, and I liked John Crichton and Aeryn Sun, but I didn't care for the ship, the muppets or how dark everything was (light-wise). Just never went back to it.
Well, then you're just not a proper nerd. FWIW: I liked Farscape, though I'm still a bit disturbed that my best friend met his wife at a Farscape convention.
I know I'll probably go back at some point and give it another go. I had heard really good things about certain episodes and still want to see them.
They're playing National Treasure. NATIONAL TREASURE. ... Clearly, they must be nuked from orbit. Now.
Most of the first season is pretty bad. The second episode in particular was one of the worst out of the entire series, so I certainly can't blame you for giving up. At the end of the first season, if you can make yourself sit through that much, everything picks up and the series becomes amazing.
YEah, Farscape is one of those shows where you really need to put in the time to watch most of it before you can get a feel for the big picture.
I don't give a fuck what the call it as long as the programing is good. Someone please let me know should that unlikely occurrence come to pass...
They ran like 50 Twilight Zone episodes in a row over the July 4th weekend. It's not all crap, whatever the identity crisis it's suffering. But when they do Bond, then monsters, then Braveheart, and now Nick Cage it really is missing the point, if it wanted to have a point I mean.
The "identity crisis" is that the person who is running it now doesn't like sci-fi. Why she wanted to run the Sci Fi Channel if she doesn't like sci-fi is a mystery to me, but that's why their programming has been sucking and the reasoning behind the name change.
Does the History Channel still do "Dogfights"? If they don't, SyFy should pick it up. They should get Michael Vick to host it.
I think this fiasco and "The Hut" among others have clearly demonstrated that companies need to check with the internet before they make any major changes.
Or maybe just that Bonnie fucking Hammer needs to die in a fire. But that's been the case since the cancellation of Farscape.
I the someone at "The Hut" ad agency, wearing paisley bell bottoms, said "Remember The Wiz? That was a far out name for a store! Let's do something like that!" and the other guy with the open shirt and gold chains said "Right on!"
I agree, a bright spot in their otherwise dismal programming. Most promising premier I've seen in a while.
