Caught this last Monday on a free screening, and... It was surprisingly good. I went in with pretty low expectations, given that most comedy horrors movies are either just utter crap, or get a overly arch. And going off the previews I was expecting a third rate Zombieland. Turns out this was just fun! Closer to Superbad than Zombieland. And there were times I actually felt I was watching a Troma film with a better budget. The plot revolves around three scouts, who miss the start of the zombie attack by camping in the woods. Two head back to town to try and go to a party, and the third goes to see where the missing Scout Leader is, and they all discover zombies, zombies everywhere. They team up with a cocktail waitress from a stripper club (Lawrence of Alabia...) and try to get out to a safe zone. There's lots of gore-for-fun, plenty of laugh out loud moments and, at 90 minutes, never wears out it's welcome. Some really good moments, although if you're with a girl there's a bit she may cringe at. Don't expect great acting, an Oscar-worthy plot or dollops of originality, as it has none of those - it's just silly fun. Ahnuld's son makes an appearance, and has similar acting chops to poppa, so I hope he starts hitting the gym if he expects a long career. Definitely worth seeing, maybe not at regular cinema prices, but a much better gross out comedy than most.
