    How about a frozen lake, or rather a lake that would be frozen if it weren't warmed by the sun, is the lake ingesting solar energy to sustain its existence? Is it alive? There are many obvious examples of life yet no clear definition.*

    No, any of them on their merits. But their merits need to be MEDICAL.

    I think you must be deliberately missing the point becuase you're not dumb, right? Whether any of these things are proven or 'fact' is less important than how an understanding of them is reached. If it is reached in a reasoned and scientific way then I'm happy to discuss it, be right, be wrong, whatever. But I think views reached solely as either article of faith or as something written in the holy book of your choice are not be given remotely the same weight.
