So I have been waiting for this. My family bought a condo in an over 55 community for my grandfather who is 90. My dad is the co-owner as he is in his seventies. my grandfather was supposed to live with me here, but he really needs constant care from nurses at this point due to his extreme dementia. Lots of people sublet their condos around here to people under 55 in rental leases. The HOA can terminate a lease if you are under 55 and caught resideing in the condo. Since my grandfather moved out I have been waiting for the nosy people to complain about me being here. Today it happened. My father got a call that the building association head wants me out because he knows I am living here and it is bugging someone. So my parents got a threatening call i have to be out and they have to terminate their lease with me, which there is none because I am technically the caregiver for the owner. The way things are set up is I do not reside here. I have all the IDs for getting in and using the facilities, but I have never changed my address or residence here. Everything here is in my grandfathers or fathers name, and I live elsewhere according to every record. It is the fun of being able to maintain a semi off the grid life. This is going to be terribly disappointing for the HOA Nazi who is making a huge deal. You can't do shit because I am not on any lease and I am not a renter who can be evicted. We did everything by the book which meant I could not be an owner, or even a renter because you cannot sublet for a year from purchase date. Technically I am never even going to sublet because everything is handled internally to the family. Any time they want to attempt to prove I am a resident I have an address that is not here. Interestingly, the general propertyt management was not aware the head of our building HOA had a dog. Oooopsie, that is a fee you have to pay for, and now they are aware he needs to pay it. The camera is already set up recording where he walks his mutt daily for evidence. Time to shoot back. No more live and let live.

HOA tend to "play favorites" a lot too which really pisses me off. Their buddies can have a jungle for a front yard. But if your grass is two inches too long (because it's been raining every day for a week straight and you can't cut it) and they are taking pictures for evidence to nail you.
My dad is actually a member of the board of his55 plus community HOA. They have stuff to actually administer like a clubhouse with a theater and different card rooms and a billiards room. The board has to make surte the houses are all kept up, and it is a gated community so they have to hire and deal with the security company that runs the place. It is like The Ozarks or The sopranos. There are all sorts of politics, money, and families trying for power in different clubs and factions. I am pretty sure they had to wack someone over pickleball court rules. You don't fuck with the social club's yearly events because those old ladies will cut a bitch. My mother is fucking italian/german and grew up around westchester NY, and those bitches came for her and backstabbed her a few times. My mom went all sorts of Marty's wife after that, and now she controles the bridge club. It is not like my parents are not well familiarized with HOAs and how to use the power. Worse comes to worse they will bring in their parents and let these people talk to some owners. They do not want any of that. Five minutes of trying to talk to my grandfather and they will cave. Not because he is so mean, but it is hard to listen to someone with that much confusion who wants to talk to you. He is the home owner. Tell him what you want him to do. I told my dad, next month when they have their building meeting we will bring my grandfather there and have him give his input. Now you are dealing with the homeowner. You asked for it, and now you got it. I know how frustrating it is, and it is your job to talk to him to make sure his concerns are met. We can do this the easy way with people who speak english and know who they are, or we can do it the hard way with you explaining why I should not live here to him. I am really amused by the whole thing because we are well within the rules, and we pay our fees. They just showed us there is an uptight dick around who likes to be all sneaky and fuck around. Now I am going to be gregarious and nice. You are going to know I am here and your rule Nazi ass won't be able to do anything about it. I know how much it drives them nuts because my grandmother is one of those people who has to go around making trouble for everyone even when they are being really respectful because it makes her feel powerful to fuck with someone.
there is a certain part I cannot complain about with the people who run shit for our building. They are on top of things and make sure things are kept up. Each unit has a number of condos the unit manager has to oversee. What is really strange is there are a bunch of units and each one has it's own contract with the landscapers and rules for what is set up as decorations and how they manage parking and guest spots. When the vaccinations came around the people who run the unit made sure everyone knew when their time was days in advance to get the shot. My grandmother lives in the same community and her unit never told them anything about vaccinations and she had to go around her unit manager to find out when they were scheduled. She has problems because they don't have established guest spots for her building. Up until now I actually liked the couple who did the management, and I am not actually sure they are the ones who complained. They might just have gotten a complaint and had to submit it and that is all. Whoever it is who complained does not have a leg to stand on because I am not a resident. They cannot ban me. Even if they tried banning me here I still would be able to get in via my grandmother's ownership. It is just a completely dick move because I am lame as fuck. I do not play loud music, have anyone over, or make any sort of ruckus. I don't want to put up decorations and shit that people could complain about. The dues are paid, the place is not burning down or a hazard. Also, if an older person came to me with a problem I would lend a hand and help out. I can park my car in it's space properly and I drive slowly in the neighborhood. I do not have a pet. Now that I know I bother some jerkoff, good. You are going to complain about me because I am young (Not that young, but I do look that young) This person stretched out to hit me so they can feel powerful and prove to themselves they can make someone else's life worse even though I am better than most of the older people around here who break all the damned rules. Because you cannot complain about any of them, you are going to come after me? I just love ruining that sort of asshole's day. The more pointless complaints the more warm fuzzies i will get. I am just glad they cannot complain to my grandfather and try to scare him. Oh, and I am going to have to start going outside in drag a whole lot more.
Always remember when something irritates someone. A few months back when my grandfather was living with me some people came to the door and told him to turn off the light that was on outside the door during the day. I could not fully get what he was saying, but someone actually knocked on the door and told him to turn off the light, and they scared him pretty good because he was rambling on about being tossed out of the place. I thought he was over reacting because who the fuck would do that. But, I made sure to tape the switch in the off position so neither of us would turn it on so he felt better about it. So I got to thinkin. Which is not a good thing for the unit manager. I thought maybe someone with some sort of bossy OCD actually came by and told him to turn off the light because they wanted it that way. So I ripped the tape off the switch and turned on that light. Everyone has one of these lights, and it comes with the design of the place. It just so happens that the light to my condo can be seen from one of the bedrooms of the HOA unit manager who lives right across from me. This morning around ten when I heard a bunch of them out on the walk talking I decided to go get my bowling ball out of the car and bring it into the house. Just bto see what happens. Sure enough it is the unit manager and his wife on their way out to get lunch. So I barged through their group without wearing a mask and a pleasant hello (Everyone is vaccinated around here because the community set things up) The HOA unit manager asked me how my grandfather was and I told him he was doing just fine. As I came back with my bowling ball he let me know I left that light on. During the daytime that light is not very bright. This is florida, and there is lots of sunlight. Never ever give a tormentor ammo. So now I know something about that light being on gets under Mr. Bossy's skin. And all the other people around make sure theirs are turned off. That light will never be turned off ever again. It was off for a long damned time, and they got away with harassing my grandfather about it because I did not think anyone would actually give a fuck. But I was wrong and that light is just a big old beacon of fuck you, and I happen to be in control of whether or not it is off or on. Don't be a dick if you are peresnikity about really trivial shit. Oh, and there is also a camera on the light and on my car. I needed something to do around here, and I think I have found my purpose.
