Xylem Ships Water Pumps to East Coast Pump manufacturer Xylem Inc. (XYL) said more than two dozen truckloads of its pumps were sent to the East Coast storm area over the weekend to fortify dealers' rental inventories of Godwin-brand pumps for extracting water from flooded factories, chemical and petroleum refineries, municipal water pumping stations and quarreys. "Many key customers have already reached out to us," said Grant Salstrom, managing director of New Jersey-based Godwin, which specializes in pumps for dewatering work. "We can move a lot of water very quickly." Godwin has about 10 dealers from New York to Virginia. Another 10 to 12 truckloads of Godwin pumps from dealers in the South and Midwest will be dispatched to the East Coast late Monday to accommodate an anticipated surge in demand in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. "We're going to have a rough go of it, but it's no stranger to us," said Mr. Salstrom, 55 years old and a 34-year veteran of Godwin. "Hurricane season can be a busy season for us." Xylem was spun out of industrial conglomerate ITT Corp. (ITT) last year. LINK
