I've never understood people who wait until the last minute to send their ballot in the mail. You get your ballot up to 45 days before the election. How hard is it to take a few minutes , read and research the names and issues on the ballot, and then return it? And did you REALLY think that sending it three days before the due date was going to work? Those are the people who are always past due on their bills and then complain when their electricity or internet gets shut off. I suspect that if Biden wins the rioting will stop and the media will cease talking about Covid. Then the reports will be about how great the economy has ROARED back, which is the inevitable result when people are no longer being scared every day by pandemics and violence. This whole conspiracy about a fair election is just that. Bullshit. The U.S will have another fair election just like it did before and the only people who will be screaming about it not being fair will be the sore losers. As they always do.
You are delusional. Literally. Do you really think that just about every country in the world is involved in some mammoth plot to make up a "pandemic" just to influence the American election? It takes a special kind of delusional mentality to think such a thing. You need to get out more.
I think you're downplaying the fact that the moron currently occupying the White House will use every and all means it his disposal to contest the election results, should they not go his way.
Totally not for the same reasons @T.R thinks, but, reporting on Covid as well as other nonsense may decrease and actual news may, again, be the reason for reporting news - at least here in the US. Covid is real and I know it. I'm just saying, we may get some news reports daily about the spread or containment, but trump's nonsensical statements will no longer be taking up so much news time. Notice how many times I've said "may" in that paragraph.
Covid is actual news, not nonsense. Here in France, where we have not made a political issue out of it (except for a few crazies, who do not include the president), there is news about the pandemic and measures that need to be taken, or are being taken, just about every day. Why should it be different in the States?
Nah, the rioting is going to be a permanant fixture. You think Joe "let me take a whiff, little girl" Biden and Cop-mala Harris is who they are vandalizing and burning shit for? Hell no. They want what they think is anarchy which to them is communism where they are on top. Its because the most radical of them are the idle children of the wealthy, who have never had to actually do any work, and can't even conceptualize the chain of logistics and work that make up how the human race feeds itself.
Not even CLOSE to what I was saying. I dont need a lecture from a frenchy about how real the pandemic is. I've been working during this entire pandemic and Ive seen the devastation its caused. I deal with dozens of people every day so you can shove it with your "get out more" crap . If you had any ability to actually READ and understand, you would have seen that I was referring to the way that the media here in the states has covered it. If you actually lived here you would understand that. Think about that before injecting accusations that arent true
He's an American, numbnuts. How many times do you need to be told? He's also familiar with apostrophes and the use of upper case in proper nouns.
I didn’t say covid was nonsensical. I said “covid” and “other nonsensical” News on covid may go down because trump isn’t saying nonsense about it. I then went on to say that we may get actual news on covid. Not nonsense.
By saying "other" nonsensical, you're including information about COVID-19 in the "nonsensical." As for getting actual news, it's plentiful, if you turn off the Talking Heads and read: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
Exactly my point. You're a fucking idiot. Only fucking idiots would vote for Trump. Ergo, you're voting for Trump.
You can't possibly have missed all the threads about the Republicans trying to sabotage the election, so you must be a partisan stooge. There's no other reasonable explanation.
There's no evidence of voter fraud, so that means it exists!! I can't say I expected a better argument from those who purport to believe in God...
Ya know, I had an actual conversation like this with a long time friend of mine last night. I'm not sure what he's on about, but he actually thinks it's a conspiracy. And he's smarter than that. It bothers me.
Whatever the magical voices in your head tell you sweet cheeks. But at least you didn't try and deny your tin foil hat status. In fact, you just embraced it
Whatever helps you sleep at night. Anyway, you can leave the thread now; the adults are trying to have a serious conversation.
I'd say most of the whites taking part are kids who never worked a day in their life and still live at home with mommy and daddy. But the blacks taking part are very poor and feel that they have nothing left to lose. They live in poverty, have little to no skills and work shitty jobs for shitty paychecks. I don't think communism has anything to do with it.
Elections in the US have fallen very far short of "fair" for a long time by the standards of other democratic nations - for example they would fall short of requirement to gain access to the EU. This is a further descent - into something like farce.
Not that I am disagreeing at all, but on what specific criteria do you base this? Personally, I see two that come immediately to mind: gerrymandering (officially allowed and widely implemented in the USA, illegal in the EU), and campaign financing. But this is almost certainly a subject on which you know a lot more than I do; your ideas interest me.
True. In fairness it should be added that the EU ignores those same standards repeatedly both with nations gaining access and others remaining in the Union.
I mean, it makes sense in primary elections when your state isn't one of the first states to hold a primary. The candidate someone wanted to vote for 45 days prior to the primary might have dropped out by then. For general elections, shit might come out about a candidate the day before the election that would have swayed your vote. No one should be forced to vote early just because you have a stick up your ass about it.
The EU requires that all countries joining it meet the "Copenhagen Criteria", which lists democracy, the rule of law and so forth as requirements in a fairly general way. One can dig down into the literature and see how these criteria are applied - in negotiations with Turkey, the Balkan states and others. Issues that arise include what you mention and others that the US might fall afoul of - including some features of the electoral system, issues with voter registration, disenfranchisement of some groups - and even voter knowledge and engagement. And just for the record - I'm certainly not suggesting that the EU is a paragon of virtue where democracy is concerned. Without considering the internal situations of its member states, the EU itself is a technocratic nightmare which is structured in such a way as to prevent democracy.
