Hey all, I am back from Gatlinburg, things went pretty good, not as good as we hoped but was ok. They changed things around a little differently, not every group got to go into every situation but were assiged four. We did:

Domestic Disturbance. 2 guys were beating the tar out of each other and you we had to decide who started it and which ones were going to jail
which we placed 7th outta 30.

Then we had Escapeed Detaine. This was pretty cool. They ropped out an acre of the National Park near Gatlinburg and you had to find, apprehend and bring back the detainee within 12 minutes. This was the 1st time we'd ever done something similar to this, so we wound up placing 15th.

We also did Accident Investigation which you came on as after the wreck was cleared and had to determine what happened and who was at fault.
    We placed 8th.

Also, we did Use of Deadly Force which was a computer simulation and you were put into different situations to figure out when/if you could shoot at the imagine. Kinda  but hard to explain. We also placed 8th in this. The computer deducted points on the time between the threat started and the time it took you to draw your gun and kill/nuetralize the threat(s)

Mk so competitions wasn't all that was going on, we went out and saw the sites of Gatlinburg, stayed up 1/2 the night. Got sick on the winding roads coming up and thankfully found another way down going North to Knoxville and then South I-75 to Cartersville, Georgia and on home, much more pleasant than those other roads through the mountains.

We also introduced to the world the newwest vehicle in the Fleet.
Someone donated us a Porshe (they own a business, lots of cool cars and they redid the paint job to make it look like the rest of the cars in the cities fleet (black body and White doors that say "HOLLY SPRINGS" on them, except our Porish says "HOLLY SPRINGS EXPLORERS" on it. One of the other officers said our Chief should drive it down to the Police Chief Meeting:lol: Also someone joking asked the Captain if they could put it on the road working our part of 575 and his words were exactly "Hell No" (on the other hand, even going down 75 people saw it and slowed down to a near stop once they saw it had Police on it  and funny watching other tourist at redlights try to get pictures of it. Haha like they've never seen one with Police on it:D.

    anyways

Today it snowed up there.Got heavy at some points, but we like everybody eles we out shopped and looked around. We're armed to the theeth now. Most of us bought are on, but our advisors did buy some airsoft guns and masks for our training, I'm thinking between us and them, we probably had around $500-600 worth of weapons, ammo and masks, all stuck in the back of the Porshe. I think we were the most well armed group in the city of Gatlinburg by te time we left haha.

Anyways, I got school in the morning, so am going to bed. Reality sets back in :weep:

Will have pics from Gatlinburg after I get them devolped tomorrow. Look for them here haha

    Goodnight all

 Deadly Force? Reminds me of the time I was driving a truck during Deadly Force training. There was a mock roadblock, and while the soldiers/students got out to handle things, I get to watch the proceedings as a spectator.

The students all have blank rounds (duh) and the situation was three civilians dressed as farmers were slowly coming at the students, shouting in Arabic/gibberish. One guy had a shovel, one had a RIFLE and one had nothing. Within two seconds one student shot the guy with the shovel point-blank. I mean no warning, no "escalation of force" or anything. This dude with the shovel took one step in his general direction and POW!

Oh well, better here than in Iraq I guess. He was taking the "if you feel threatened, shoot" rule to heart!

They cancelled school here this morning. No snow, really. I think it was because of the cold temp.

Ours is to but for the opposite reason, the only reason they'll let out is because the roads are completly impassable.

The last day I got out was back when Katrina hit, Gov Predue ordered govt buildings to be closed to save on oil.

I live up on a mountain at the snow line I get snow when the lowlanders don't. I actually had less than an inch of snow that fell yesterday here at the house. There was no snow at the bottom of the mountain.

The school superintendant here is a prick. They've had school several times that I thought were very questionable. I've sworn that he'd have school if hell froze over.

I think he did it just to prove me wrong.

That's one of the gripes the TEA president had when he came in... Snow day policy, while mandated at the state level, isn't applied with any consistancy from district to district. Very often, districts wouldn't shut down, and teachers who couldn't reasonably be expected to make it in were being charged with personal days.
