....unwillingly of course, when I heard something interesting. After a good 20 minutes of "The liberals are screwing this up" and "Mr. Obama did this" and "This is why our economy is so bad" and pretty much every other skewed conservative point of view that can be expressed in that amount of time, it was advertised that they were going to "Media Mash", ie manipulate segments of liberal media and point out how biased and ridiculous the liberal media is. Now frankly, doesn't this seem ridiculous considering fox news is just as bad as CNN, NBC etc...just in the opposite direction?
I try to avoid the 24/7 infotainment channels but I thought every channel already "Media Mashed" to some extent. MSNBC seems to do nothing but "Media Mash" FOXNews. Heck Keith Obermann's show should be renamed "Bill O'Reilly is the worstest human ever" show. CNN is biased but they don't "Media Mash" very often. And I'd be surprised if FOXNews hasn't done some "Media Mashing" already. Of course the king of "Media Mashing" is Jon Stewart. That's been his bread and butter for years. The real question is, where are you working that you're forced to listen to FOXNews? Sounds like you have a "hostile work environment" lawsuit in the making.
There's nothing ridiculous about a commentary show doing that. (If the show you were watching had a "Media Mash" segment then it had to be Hannity) Also I'd put FOX above CNN, NBC and the rest. Special Report is one the best news shows of the day and they, unlike some of their counterparts, don't let their crazy commentators host their big straight news events. Damn Roger Ailes for giving the people a news channel that doesn't slant severely to the left! Damn him to hell!!!
None of your channels slant "severely to the left". The quality of mainstream news coverage in general is embarrassing.
Not surprising that you believe that to be true. At the same time how much value would you place in my opinion of Irish channels? Well that's just true but I don't think objective news coverage is the goal, it's all about ratings. And sensationalism beats objectivity every time.
Really? We have these things called "dials" on American TV + radios where we can select different channels. We can even tune in to left-wing liberal programs.....if you can find one. Seems they all descend into shrill whining + hand-wringing and soon lose their audience. BTW before about 2003 (when Fox News really kicked in high gear) almost every TV channel in military mess halls, hospital waiting rooms, etc. was tuned in (couldn't change it) to CNN. Yep....us "jackbooted thugs + invaders" had to watch CNN, the left-leaning news agency. Talk about a hostile work environment!
As would I. A year or 2 ago, I wouldn't have said that, but CNN has devolved pretty badly over the years. Of course, I still watch the lovely Robin Meade in the morning. Even CNN's website sucks. http://www.cnn.com/ Scroll down on the main page and look at the news categories: US, World, Business, Politics, Entertainment, Health, Tech, Travel, Justice, Sports, Blogs, Gay in America. Gay in America? Now, mind you, I have no problem with gays being gay and I'm all for gay rights. IMHO your sex life is your personal and private business, but how in the hell does Gay in America qualify as a category on a news website?
I believe that's a special report, something they do pretty frequently -- pick a topic and examine it in depth for a while. There was probably something different in that slot a month ago, and there will probably be something different there a month from now.
Meh, I don't put much stock in the National TV News since Brokaw, Jennings and Rather* left the scene. And I'm from the wrong generation to remember Kronkite. *Now that one blew his credibility!
The best news source right now imo, if you want something from a left perspective, is the Asia Times.
"Not quite as far left as Rick" is still pretty freakin severely left. What is this "dial" of which you speak?
See, this is the problem with people who have their infotainment fed to them by teevee personalities. They no longer know how to distinguish the categories of news. What's odd is that Muad's old enough to know better. I miss Peter Jennings. His calm, round-the-clock reportage during and just after 9/11 was the essence of professionalism and class.
I work in a McDonalds, we get like 3 channels, FOX News and some religion network, and CNN. Our owner however says that we have to keep it on FOX News. Personally I wish we didn't have the television at all.
Man you guys are spoiled. I had to listen to girls talk about baby daddies for 8 hours a day. I'll take fox news over that! Plus CNN isn't any better. But I won't get started.
Oh I wasn't saying one was better. They both suck. And I'd almost take listening to baby daddy stories. I pretty much listen to ghetto ass car stories and fights with girlfriend stories and watch every guy check out every chick that comes into the store then listen to them talk about her for the next 20 minutes lol til another hot one comes in...oh and the constant bashing of managers/other coworkers.
