I suspect that we've just witnessed a Stalinist-style purge of the GOP. Those that are unwilling to conform to the ideology of the Tea Party at all costs have just been outed, come primary season, they're going to have a very difficult time holding onto the nomination. The gambit is, that once they've been ousted in a primary, they'll sit out the election, rather than going the Joe Lieberman route and running as an "independent." Of course, if enough of them get "primaried," they may just decide to form a third party. which could weaken the GOP considerably. If enough of those members of the new third party get elected to office, then there's a chance that for the first time in a long time, we'll have a viable third party in the US, which will put the stranglehold the Republicans and Democrats both have on the government in danger.
Thank you! I'd been trying to remember that quote. Seems like the appropriate response to just about anything Volpone posts.
I was briefly reminded of some youngling back in the days of big blue who insisted he was a master military strategist because he played RTS games... ahh, the hubris of youth.
I can tell you Cuccenelli is a scumbag and Northern Virginia (minus maybe Loudon County) would rather vote Satan. Its up to Richmond and the Norfolk areas if we can keep him out of office though
Many of the Tea Party supporters don't seem to be taking this well. I'm currently watching my tea party supporting brother in law have a melt down on facebook. It's rather sad seeing an other wise intelligent guy repeating nonsense such as there was no chance of default and even if it did it would have been a good thing for the economy. I guess it just goes to show that people can be really good at their speciality (in his case programming) but complete fools in other areas.
I wanna thank the 18 senators and 144 congressmen who held to their convictions and didn't fall for the scare mongering. Although they didn't win the battle, their vote will be remembered come 2014. I hope that the Republicans that voted for reopening the government face dire consequences. I hope that when Obomacare ruins the economy and people's lives and when it becomes impossible to repeal or reform like so many other government programs that they remember how they voted. May they suffer defeat at the hands of the Tea Party or better yet, Libertarians in 2014. And so the can is officially kicked further down the road; never to be dealt with until the whole system collapses under it's own weight.
i really don't want to ask, but: is an F at reading comprehension a prerequisite to becoming a TP republican? because that would explain a lot.
Never read anything by Rand, actually. The obsession lib-tards tend to have for her is quite amusing, though.
@Ohoitnik, your sig is incorrect. Thomas Jefferson never said that. http://www.monticello.org/site/jefferson/bad-government-results-too-much-government-quotation Earliest known appearance in print: 1913[1] Earliest known appearance in print, attributed to Jefferson: 1950[2] Other attributions: John Sharp Williams Comments: This exact quotation has not been found in any of the writings of Thomas Jefferson. It bears some slight resemblance to a statement he made in a letter to John Norvell of June 14, 1807: "History, in general, only informs us what bad government is."[3] However, the quotation as it appears above can definitely be attributed to John Sharp Williams in a speech about Jefferson, which has most likely been mistaken at some point for a direct quotation of Jefferson.[4] Are you a Maud dual?
