Should we just shut the Champagne Room and call it a loss or what?

I pretty much hoped it wouldn't come to this bullshit, but should have known it would. And now with Zodiac offering money for pictures at TK, it's just that extra layer of excitement we didn't need. :marathon:

What do ya'll think we should do?

As I said to Elwood a few minutes ago:

[01:42] nickwalczak27: good thing its not up to me, i'd just ban him outright, put up with the shitstorm, and go on with it
[01:43] nickwalczak27: when one person ruins the fun for everyone, repeatedly, seems like a good reason to make them go bye bye

Lemme put on my tinfoil hat for a moment.

A forum so obviously destined to fail could easily be seen as little more than trolling then banning those undesirables who would quickly realize how easily the forum could and would be exploited. :calli:

    *Takes off tinfoil hat

Personally, I expected this to be a huge failure and I'm a tad surprised that so many thought it would work. Especially considering that PMing pictures was the obvious way to go and the existence of the WR.

OK then. I'll ask. Why was the room deleted? No pics were leaked as far as I can see, and the I-want-in-but-they-won't-let-me poor sod routine was right out of the textbook, as was the complaint thread on TK

But of course caution is good in these cases. Just asking if you didn't play along a bit too well. Now the retards are happy that they broke the other guy's toy. Maybe simply laughing at him at the 'request' would have been better? It's clear to everybody that some people would never get in and not bother rabble rousing.

I've had some ethical and legal questions floating around in my head since the idea was first proposed, but I sat on them. I'd rather confine the activity to the private realm, knowing full well that I'd be excluded from the "best" material, to save any larger headaches.

Now, give it a couple of weeks and if it comes back as a semi-secret invitation only forum, so be it.

Or maybe his denial could have been handled a little more tactfully?

I know it may not have made any difference...at all, but he did make his request in a respectful manner. Was it an act? I think so, but in the future, maybe it wouldn't hurt to respond to respectful request (even if you know it's just a put-on) in a respectful way. At the very least it might serve to give them less ammo when they decide to pull the trigger.

    Just a thought.

No, PM attachments are the way to go.

Other forums enable you to choose who sees your gallery, that sort of option would give each poster the choice, as well as the power to set their own boundaries.

Gosh, wow, the kiddies behave immaturely! Who'da thunk it?
I dunno, disappear for a few days, and some of the good stuff vanishes because some posters have a mental age of 12. :garamet: Probably for the best, although I can't help noting that those among us that we know are youngsters have behaved better than some of those old enough...

It was an experiment anyway.

It failed so it ended...pretty much that simple.

Although I suspect we would have had no problems if my original thoughts on the subject had been followed. No one should have been banned from the outset because of suspicion. I wanted an option to kick people out once they started acting the ass, not before.

Oh well. It doesn't really matter much now anyway.

I think it was overreaction on Tamar's part, to be honest. The whole point of moderating a membership was to keep out people you don't trust.

Please note: I was very careful to NOT say that Elwood was actually considering banning anyone at this point... Only that he has the flu and doesn't make permanent decisions while incapacitated...
