Fucking awful poster. Let's try some originality for once, eh? https://gizmodo.com/5857101/have-you-ever-noticed-that-all-movie-posters-look-the-same
Whelp, the Facebook post has been taken down. Found this article, which has a screen grab: http://www.indiewire.com/2018/03/di...sters-french-artist-hachim-bahous-1201936483/ Something's going on...
The masked villain from the trailer is Enfys Nest, and it's a woman. I hope they treat her better than Captain Phasma. https://www.cbr.com/solo-star-wars-enfys-nest-woman/
Fuck. It drops during American Idol which is from 8:00 to 10:00 So they're gonna try to fuck up Walking Dead. If it hasn't dropped by 8:59, too bad, I'm gonna have to miss it. I'll check every commercial break on TWD, but you guys are probably gonna scoop me.
In the meantime, you should probably check out this French car commercial. https://io9.gizmodo.com/whet-your-appetite-for-new-solo-footage-with-this-fre-1825090198
I keep waiting for them to put out the Struzan style one, but it looks like they're sticking with this style, and this painter.
I'm not. Alden just doesn't remotely feel like Ford to me. Not at one point did I watch that and think "that's Han Solo". At least with Ewan McGregor you could believe he was a younger Alec Guinness.
On the subject of poo pooing things, I'm gonna be a heretic and say Struzan is overrated. Glad they're trying new things
I've not read back on the threads here, but I've yet to see anyone from the meltdown crowd make a truly legitimate complaint about Last Jedi that doesn't basically amount to it not meeting their personal expectations for one or more characters. It's not perfect by any means, but at least one of the Disney movies tried to do something different rather than playing just to the nostalgia crowd. This movie, in contrast, feels like a cynical attempt to play to that nostalgia crowd...and then is made worse by having a key, to me crucial, element missing. I mean, if you're going to go the whole hog with digital Peter Cushings and Carrie Fishers in Rogue One, it seems a bit jarring to have Han Solo played by someone who doesn't really evoke Ford or resemble him at all. *shrug* I know it wouldn't happen, mostly because I don't think he would have been interested, but I would have probably been more up for this if it were a de-aged Ford. If Scorsese can do it for De Niro, Pacino and Pesci for nearly an entire movie then surely Disney by now could have done it. Oh well. Not as if it'll kill off future SW movies any more than Last Jedi did. On to Rian Johnson's trilogy and more meltdowns!
I don't worship at his altar or anything, it's just one of those traditions I look forward to. If they're gonna break that tradition, that's fine, I just kinda wish they'd say so so I don't wait for it. Like, they've admitted they're retiring the Wilhelm scream.
