I read the free chapters of Spy x Family and it's definitely a show I want to check out once it's available for free and I have the free time. So definitely in the next decade.
Great series with some good humor and cute without sexualizing. There was no cringe with them sexualizing Anya with a dress up party, and the boobage is sane. Waiting on the third season. this was a nice series with an interesting idea on the video game fantasy genre. It was not an isekai, but the world operated on a video game premise with the main character getting tossed from the Hero party because he was a useless class called beats tamers. It is a harem anime where the main character "tames" celestial human anime hybrid females. The taming is a bit cringy, but goes along the normal platonic harem humor where the main character cares about the harem, but does not sexualize them. This is a fun and popular series I recommend highly. It is an isekai based on video game rules. It worldbuilds great. and character builds even more. There is some cringe with the sexualization. nI got the joke about him being boob support the first time, but find a new one in the third series. I think it completed in the last series, but they could do more. They do more than just bring reimaru from slime to godly as he unites the monster races and makes peace with the human kingdoms. This just came out and it is on my list for viewing this week before momocon. Looks like fun from what I have seen. This series gets cringe as fuck, and then I read one of the artists was making kiddie porn. Any excuse that this series was not fapping smut with kids flew out the window. Yes, the story is nice. There is some adult comedy in there. They do not technically go into child sexualization because they are mostly dragons who are hundreds of years old, but the artist chose to give them children human forms, and one of the child dragons have breasts which are larger than she is as a child. The whole reason the series gives for the huge breasts is that female dragons grow breasts according to their power level. One of the jokes is that the dragon with the biggest breasts in the first season sexually terrorizes a human boy by forcing herself upon him while he continually says no and tries to escape from her. This does not quite fit the actual story because tohru should not be smaller than the other dragons given who she is. Watch it for smut value, but do not be confused by the sweetness. Interesting idea but I would not recommend it until much later. It is slow until the climax and then rushed while throwing in new details that are never expanded on. I spent the whole series screaming at the scream WTF is a pharmacutist. It is a fucking pharmacist assholes. The worldbuilding was semi interesting but woefully lacking come the climax. It is only 12 episodes and it says The end while leaving you wondering WTF was going to happen, and who the fuck was the main bad guy. Put this at the end of your list because it was an idea that wasn't fully done, and if you know anything about medicine they put a lot of bullshit big words in with some small amount of actual pharmaceutical knowledge. This was a fun little series. The characters were fun. The idea of a gate opening up into Japan and spewing creatures from a feudal fantasy realm into modern day weapons was interesting. Then it goes onto how the Japanese military goes into the fantasy based world with modern weaponry. The main harem is basically trying to save the fantasy world from itself when their leaders throw their lacking forces against bullets, tanks, and apache type helicopters with only swords and plate armor. There is some magic and dragons. Then you throw in a fun loli catgirl goddess of war who is tagging along with the main group for fun. This one a bit of a slow episodic romance. The ideas are wonderful and well animated. The second season just dropped and I will be watching it this weekend. The first episode begins with the girl being purchased at auction by this demon looking guy. Yes, it seems cringe, but when the story develops it ads to the plot. The world building and character building in this is amazing. The romance is well done. The tragedy is touching and brings tears. One of the most recommended on your list. I had friend who pitched this and loved it. I tried to get into it but it didn't catch me quickly. Give it a few episodes because everyone who liked it I have spoken to really liked it. Thgere was not much that turned me off to it. I just was into other things at the time. One episode and the jiggly boobs were too fucking much. Maybe there was a fun harem with some smut in there. It just seemed like something I had seen. This was on funimations smut sneak peak years ago, and the previews were too raunchy to show to an underage audience. I have seen enough jiggly boob humor over the years I could not be bothered with it. In the first episode I am wondering why the superpowerful busty vampire goddess type is bothered with the overly useless boy when she could just kill him for a snack and find something interesting to do. Then it got worse from there.
A few other recommendations from crunchyroll If you are into isekai there is "So I am a Spider, So What." on crunchyroll. A whole class is zapped into a video game by an explosion. Most of them end up as human in a school of magic training them to be the heroes of the world. A couple of other students go elsewhere. The bookworm video gaming girl gets put at the base level of the monster dungeon as a spider and has to fight her way out while leveling up. Her adventures are a blast and she is great. The rest of the class is boring and generally useless, but needed for the story. Mob Psycho 100 Mob is an esper who dismisses ghosts working for Reagan who is taking advantage of him, but also seems to be helping Mob. I did not like it at first because Reagan pissed me off, but it gets better as Mob develops. Cells at work and code black. An older series where them make cells in the body to be humans with cellular motivation. Very accurate medical terminology with the characters having motivations of cells. It is done real well. Danganropa: The animation. The first season is interesting where a bunch of kids are stuck in a school and forced to solve murders as they are killed off so they can escape. Th second and third season run at the same time while going back and forth between the prelude and post story. Konosuba : God's blessing on this wonderful world. This was a funny little Isekai harem anime. Main character gets killed, goes to useless goddess who tries to convince him to fight a demon lord and she grants him a weapon to do so and he picks her. Then you add in a mage who can only cast a gigantic explosion once a battle and passes out. The tank is a masochistic ball of horniness who just loves being dominated and going through pain. Then there are the other characters. It has gotten a spin off with a prelude focusing on the mage at school which I will be watching more of this weekend. It is a stupid comedy.
I know this one solely from this stupid """controversy""" from the type of terminally online """""activists""""" that needs to go outside who were saying the lead girl was "child-coded" for being a short girl with big tiddies. I don't get it, either To add to this thread: the remake of Urusei Yatsura has been pretty fun and done by the same studio as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (who have been killing that), and it has one of the best intro songs of any anime in a long time:
Coming out this season on crunchyroll is My Clueless First Friend. This is a school romance done right. Basically the Nishimura is a young girl who is made fun of by all of her classmates. They call her the Grim Reaper, and are pretty damned evil. Then comes Takeda who flips the whole thing on it's head and wants to know here because he thinks being the grim reapers is cool. The main joke is that he keeps on flipping the bully's script and pointing out their republican contradictions. He is played clueless and obviously likes her, but the series does address his calling her the grim reaper as complimentary and how it helps her to overcome the abuse. It is a nice adorable kids love story that does not go down any sexualizing roads. The dubbing is behind the subtitled episodes and if you wait a few weeks the sub will be complete. The subs and dubs are pretty similar so if you do not want to read you won't be missing anything as far as I can see because both sets of VAs are similar.
For a love comedy I would also recommend Kaguya Sama: Love is Wsr. In this the high school president and VP are interested in each other, but neither wants to be the first to initiate anything because that would make them the sub in the relationship. So they spend their days trying to outwit the other into dating them without asking. Then you throw in chaos in the form of the student counsel assistant Chika who cluelessly fucks up all of their plans. In Another World With My Smartphone is another ok isekai. I would not put it at the top of the list, but it has some fun characters and a few laughs for a harem isekai. The smartphone thing is not a huge part of the plot from what I can see.
Having been on a week long anime retreat and actualy getting out of the house for a change I have a few more things to say. Upon a second watching So I am a spider, so what is pretty good. The main character is energetic and might annoy some people, but I like her. There is a lot to pay attention to. This reminded me a lot of everquest alternate advancement skills so WOW players who were challenged with their skills beware. It gets complicated. We also watched something about the 8th son. It is a bland isekai where the person becomes the 8th son and is overpowered and messes up the power structure of the kingdom. Nothing special here.
If you want a really good off the radar magical girl series there is There are a lot of episodes, though not as much as one piece or fairy tail. However this is one that I think is better than Cardcaptor Sakura and maybe even Sailor moon.
Yeah, this is a really fun one... I mostly like fun and upbeat animes, stuff like Attack On Titan or Full Metal Alchemist is not for me... Most of the ones i watch are school romance or fun isekai shows... @NAHTMMM , rock out:
Konosuba : God's blessing on this wonderful world. and now the interesting prequel Konosuba: An explosion upon this world. figured I would update this because they did a really interesting thing. The original series is an Isekai harem anime that centers around a male main character who gets his party/harem of girls who never have sex with him, but they are all wacky and forced together. The explosion series is a prequel but does something really interesting. The mage in the original is Megumin. It is clear that she has a history in the world along with the caster school she attended called the Crimson Demons. She also has a rival character Mune Mune, and other NPC characters who wants to challenger her to find out who is better. They did a really cool thing of leaving some of the original series jokes about these things open and mysterious. You could fill in some of the details based on anime tropes, and laugh at the jokes, or get the context, but there was something there you were obviously missing. This series plugs in those holes and gives a huge new depth to the world and megumin. In doing that it makes for an alternative rewatching of the original as Megumin's story. It becomes less of an Isekai and a Harem, it really becomes more about how Megumin has to survive as a very problematic member of a party considering she only knows 1 spell and refuses to learn any others. It also explains a lot of the world and the zany religious sects in it, and who aqua the goddess is and her part in Megumin's life. OMG the crimson demons are an enjoyably wacky group of infamous wizards. Then there is megumin's sister, and Chomuske the cat. Mune Mune makes a lot more sense when you understand her attachment to Megumin. Normally an anime like this would get mired down in the same old joke in this period of it's production, but in this way they refresh the humor completely and make a rewatch of it from start much more fun. If you like wacked out, somewhat raunchy anime humor this series just keeps it fresh in new and great ways.
