Excerpts from a bunch of interviews in the latest issue of LEVEL magazine:

Doesn't really sound like it's going multiplatform, IMO.

Well for the time being, anyway. All depends on how big the installed base is when they're done with the game and if it sells systems. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being a staggered release, like they've done in the past with the PC.

If the game really is super awesome and won't be ported to the PC or 360, I might buy a PS3... but it'd only be for one game, so it'd be hard to justify that price tag.

The problem with them porting it over is the Sony Cell processor. It's not a really easy thing to work with, and the way they've programmed it might be too different than the way PCs run their games. Makes you sort of wonder if Sony did that on purpose so less games would be ported over to other systems.

Nice to see it work in reverse on the arrogant cocksuckers.

I understand what you're saying, but I don't think it'd be that much of a hurdle. The Cell processor isn't all that amazing. It's harder to code for, yes, but that means making ports for other systems is easier.

Which is probably why when most anything is ported to the PS3, it doesn't run so good. There isn't going to be anything they toss or code for the Cell processor, which an Intel or AMD processor won't be able to run and run in circles around it.

Historically though, there doesn't seem to be too many games that go from Playstation to PC or whatever. I don't expect it to change for this generation either. The games that are multiplatform usually start off with the intent of it being developed for multiple systems.

Xbox games, however tend to end up on the PC, which is another reason why I have much need for an Xbox. I don't know whether or not this is because they are programmed similarly, and so it makes ports much easier. If you're already going to spend $3000 on your PC, why would you spend more when the games on Xbox will eventually come to the PC? This hurts Xbox sales, IMHO.

No, it does not. For one, if they do, it's usually not for 6 months or so. If it's a game a person really wants to play, they're not going to wait 6 months. And no, not that many actually come to the PC, only some of the 'greatest hits', per say. Halo II is only just now coming to the PC. Jade Empire was a year or two after the XBox release. Forza never made it to the PC, Gears of War won't be coming to the PC (developer has said so). Actually most of the ports you might have seen, were PC ports to the XBox. There were a lot more games originally released on the PC that went to the XBox1, than the reverse. Heck, a lot more PS games make it to the PC, it seems.

FFVII was released on the PC, as I believe was VIII (in japan). Square will need to recoup some of the money they're spending on making XXIII and the PS3 installed base (even if the game is a system seller) isn't big enough. But who knows. If it isn't released on anything but the PS3, it's not because of the PS3's hardware.

Well, Xbox sure is in the business of making their games easier to port over to the PC it seems:

    That is just not true.

Oh, it's not? Devil May Cry, GTA, Onimusha, Dynasty Warriors, Metal Gear, Winning Eleven, etc.
