Received this email today. I fear the entire thing is taking too long (This started 10 years ago while Obama was still president) and the more likely this (and other issues) is to pass at a federal level, the faster TPTB will remove the right to vote for everyone and just become an oligarchy.
Unfortunately, I don't know if I am as optimistic as the person who you are quoting. I don't know if the right-center Dems will get on board to make sure it passes the Senate. On another front, this brings to mind the thread about external validation. My argument was in part that people might tell others about their charitable work for lots of reasons that have nothing to do with trying to get attaboys. Jenee countered about how she went out of her way to not tell people about her charitable efforts. Well, Jenee, here is an example of your telling us about your charitable efforts unprovoked. You could have started a thread that just talked about the For the People Act (or contributed to the Omnibus Voter Suppression thread, whatever it's called.) I assume this is an example of what I was talking about that people bring up their charitable works not looking for praise but just stating that it happened. But maybe I'm wrong on that point.
Calm yourself. It’s a generic email. See …, they have programs that automatically put a person’s name in the “Hi Jenny” line.
FFS. Seriously. It’s a political forum discussing political topics. The email is a generic email. The topic is about reforming our government. Does anyone have anything to add to that except that I happen to be on a mailing list praising people who volunteered.
