Fun fact, the article says he went underground in 2014, and his last appearance here was 2013.
That was the day he said his goodbye to humanity.
    Eeerie.

That’s Muad dib you’re thinking of. He’s dead now. Lung cancer. It had apparently spread to his liver before they found it.

I stopped being the keeper of WF's corporate history a long time ago. So, what happened 13+ years ago is a blur even on good days. Heck, @Federal Farmer wasn't even born ( :diacanu: ). If I had a hand in any of that, I should have stopped it.

Edit: Let me be clear. The harassment of a minor child should have never been tolerated. As far as the racism, I have mixed feelings. WF was a different place back then. It's much more "kinder and gentler" today. Part of me wants to say that WF's free-speech ethos should have allowed it, because isn't it better to know who the "bad guys" are? But, on the other hand, they weren't calling me names based on a bundle of genetics I had no choice in picking.

Hmm. Interesting as this all is, Anna can shut the fuck up when it comes to throwing the racism card at anyone else. Just sayin'.

Other than that, all I can say is... WOW.

Holy shit! Storm is one of the few WFers I met in real life...I did not get that sort of vibe off of him at all.

Guess I need to take my Spidey senses in for a tune-up.

    Y'know, it's kinda funny....

He's quoted in the article as having quoted Rorschach from "Watchmen".

Rorschach was Alan Moore's goof on Steve Ditko's Question/Mr. A.
    Ditko was a total Randroid.

Alan Moore read "The Fountainhead", for his research, and hated it, and proclaimed it "a white supremacist's wet dream".

It's kind of amusing Storm/Spectre quoting a character that was an insulting parody of everything he actually believed.
I dunno if he was lacking self-awareness, or getting too meta for his own good.
I'm leaning towards the first one.

Bigotry is bigotry, whether it is based on skin color, age, sex, sexual orientation, religion, class, or whatever else you have.

And by the way, there are no "races" among people. That is a thoroughly outdated notion rooted in age-old bigotry. There is only one human race.

People might have ideas you don't like, and might do things you don't like, but those can never be identified by "groups of people" unless those groups are defined specifically in terms of the characteristic you are looking for, as in the tautology: "All people who lean to the left politically lean to the left politically."

Any other attempts to set up a one-to-one correspondance between a group and a characteristic are bigotry. And word games about whether or not the term "racism" is appropriate will never change that (especially since the term is never appropriate, given that there are no "races").

Exactly. "I'm not technically racist because..." is functionally equivalent to "I'm not racist but..." for assessing that the person saying it actually is.

No, I know who Muad dib was. The guy I'm thinking of, I'd swear his username was Spectre, but I don't see that name in the members list.

I don't think so. He changed them often, but the one I remember most was Val Kilmer's Doc Holiday.

No, the avatar I'm thinking is a guy in a white motorcycle helmet and ... maybe part of his white racing jacket. dammit. Now I have to go to google images to find it ...

That's the one. Muad may have used that image as well, but he's not the user I'm thinking. the user I'm thinking may have had a user name of Stig and not Spectre. ... damn, getting old sucks.

I just checked at trekbbs - which is how I came up with a username. I remember interacting with that guy. He seemed nice enough. But, until recently, I hadn't been on there since 2016. I clicked on his username to get some info, that guy didn't sign up until 2008 - about the time I stopped posting so much over there and started posting more over here.

Wow!! Although I can't say I'm really shocked, I am very... disappointed. I really liked him. There was a point where I kind of saw him slipping and reached out, but he was already gone I guess. Around 2008 or so. We were FB friends until 2014 or so. oh well...

That article describes his trolling to a tee here. He perfected his techniques at TBBS, TK and WF.
