Forum Restructuring...

Would it be a good idea? Could some streamlining benefit us? It was a good call several times in the past. Could a fresh take on the forums give us a boost?

Might be fun to kick around some new forum/structure ideas whether we use them or not.

Thoughts?

I'm all for improving the board layout.

I like where you're headed with that, but as I said someplace else, I was leaning towards actually renaming some of the fora.

For instance, I think the heart of Wordforge is Red/Gray/Green/Blue. So those would become "The Forge." Red and Gray I would moosh together and call that "Furnace." Green - possibly with Gold mooshed into it as you've suggested - becomes "Quench." Blue becomes "Hearth." And like that, more fully embracing the "forge" aspect of Wordforge.

Something like this?

• Furnace (Red/Gray room)
• Quench (Green/Gold room)
• Hearth (Blue room)

Yep, exactly like that.

I want to keep Techforge as-is no matter what else we might do, tho. It's named partially in memory of Techman and I don't want to change that.

My two cents, going with Lanzman's Forge theme:

The Furnace

• The Firepot (Red/Gray)
• The Anvil (Green/Gold/Iron/Camp WF)
• The Hearth (Blue Room)
• The Hammer (Workshop, Media Central, Press Start)
• TechForge (Techforge)

Quench

• Tempering (Help Desk/Announcements)
• Hardening (Shelter Releases)

The Blacksmithery

• The Forge (The Shelter)
• The Steel Trap (The Warning Zone)
• The Bin (The Recycling Bin)

I think Press Start makes more sense either being folded into Media Central, or turned into a sub-forum of Media Central.

Fixed that, and added the recycling bin which I forgot about.

There is very little discussion here. No one has any ideas or thoughts about this?

I'm actually in New York again, so I'm not giving it my full attention.

When Lanzman decides on the Forums...should we also have another contest for a new logo?

It has been awhile and a fresh banner might be nice.

Scorp (I think it was Scorp) came up with a nice one a while back. That might not be bad either. And be more inclusive about it, let folks voice opinions. Not like I did with the rep thing. Maybe soothe some hurt feelings that way.

That's why I was thinking a contest again...we have new artists since the last one and Scorp can re-enter his, unless he makes a new one and folks can vote on it.

Just, this time, it should actually be implemented unlike last time.

Anybody know why some members are pushing for/insisting on an immediate lay-out change?

Is there some closing window of opportunity I'm unaware of?

Not to my knowledge, no. I think Anc just wants to do it cuz of the rep kerfluffle.

So...Lanzman...have you made a decisions on this subject? Any other ideas?
