Some nicely done fan based Star Trek films here: http://www.startreknewvoyages.com/1024/ Also here is one episode: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6151691819806493661&q=genre:science_fiction What impressed me is this: Trek actors are actually worlking with the people here. For example, in the google link George Takei plays Chekov. George Takei shows up to play Sulu. I really likie the ship combat fx and the way they maneuvered. Based on real scripts by such gurus as D.C Fontana. Essentially it's based on what would be the fourth and fifth seasons of the original series. And the actor who plays Kirk doesn't do Kirk-speak. Overall nicely done.
The first two eps were crap. But they're trying harder with the Chekov ep. I still can't stand the Kirk & Spock actors though. The effects in the first two were crap - starships shouldn't move like they're in a roadrunner cartoon. Every time the ship zipped away, I expected to hear "beeee-WHOOP!!" But they're getting calmer with the last ep or two. Starship Exeter has phenominally better production values, effects and acting. I think it was a much better idea to create a new crew rather than NV's attempts to recreate Kirk and crew with people who don't for one minute remind me of them. I just wish they could finish their current ep!
Liked the last episode I caught OK, including the weapon effects and starship physics. Haven't seen the Takei episode yet. Haven't caught Exeter in awhile, either.
