Yup, Robert the Bruce on one side, two US presidents on the other. Coffee is still 75 cents in the company cafeteria.
Hmmm, American Mutt. English, Irish, Scottish, Dutch, German, Spanish, Portugese, and Cherokee. Mostly Spanish, Portugese and Cherokee (at 1/4, 1/4 and 1/8th respectively) though for whatever reason the Dutch genes won out; at least that is what people tell me. My sister went to Spain for a Summer and everyone thought she was a native.
Another mutt, though I prefer the term WASPy mongrel. My family goes way back in the U.S., on every side. As a consequence I have nearly everything somewhere in my background including American Indian and African American. Mostly, though English, French, and German, with a smattering of other European lines. I have an ancestor who shot at Muad Dib's great grand pappy, and another who owned Mewa's great granny. I am the sum total of all American experience.
I think I speak for my fellow Americans when I say... ...We're all very different people. We're not Watusi, we're not Spartans, we're Americans. With a capital "A", huh? And you know what that means? Do you? That means that our forefathers were kicked out of every decent country in the world. We are the wretched refuse. We're the underdog. We're mutts. But you will never find a more loyal and lovable dog than the mutt.
Same here. Everybody in my family is blond and has light skin. I'm dark haired and rather dark skinned, at least compared to the others. There's the Mexican quarter coming thru
It's kind of like people being related to Charlemagne. If your family has been here more than three or four generations, you are almost certain to have native american ancestry. I don't have enough to affiliate with a tribe, but my wife does, just barely (she is not affiliated, however). My children do not, but still have that ancestry.
My paternal grandmother mentioned it once when I was a kid. Don't know if it's true, never ran the family tree on that side. On my mom's side, her folks all came from Germany (Black Forest area, so I may have some werewolf in me) within the last century or so, leaving me fairly sure that there's no indian blood on that side.
Essentially 100% pure Celt. Possibly a little Anglo-Saxon in there, but if so it's a loooong way back.
Russian, Polish (apparently from some once-royal family), Ashkenazi Jewish, English, Scottish (descended from Robert the Bruce as well), possibly Welsh and/or Dutch, and Algonquin. Ancestors on both sides of the Atlantic, and both sides of the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, but both my parents and I are Californians. Have to go back to my grandparents to get anyone from more than 100 miles from San Francisco.
