So when you guys are talking amongst yourselves, you say "semi-auto" every single time?

If you want to hyperfocus on that all afternoon, fine. It beats having to explain why you'd need an AR-15 as opposed to anything else to take out that dumbass criminal who's hellbent on breaking into your house while you're home.

Because if you really want to parse words, that's where the important part lies, in all senses of the word.

As I said upthread several days ago, the Bad Guy in the Bushes scenario isn't the real reason for the perceived "necessity" of these weapons.

    Yes, actually.

    :diacanu:

The bullet that an AR15 fires is an excellent choice for home defense because it's effective enough to kill or incapacitate someone but it lacks the mass to overpenetrate through walls and kill innocent people, either inside the house or outside. That's not true of most pistol or shotgun rounds.

The compact size and low recoil of the carbine-sized version of an AR15 make it easier for women to use when compared to pistols (difficult to master) or shotguns (heavy recoil and much longer than the semiauto rifle).

But if you want to continue hyperfocusing on the scary black rifle, fine. ;)

And we have yet another excellent reminder of why garamet refuses to make any explicit claims. When she does, they're wrong and she gets razzed to the dogs for it.

    Poor garamet. :itsokay:

Hmmm......apparently every U.S. soldier is a "bad shot" because they use 30 round magazines?

Considering home invaders/armed robbers often work in teams, and will likely be returning fire, not seeing why a 30 round magazine would be a bad thing.

Because you might just decide one day, out of the blue, to go out and gun down a bunch of people, and that extra half-second it takes to drop a magazine and put in another one could make all the difference. :soma:
