. . . is once again emailing me asking to be unbanned. Around and around we go. I'm sorta willing to let him come back because I know full well the stupid shit will get himself banned again in short order. Thoughts?

I think it's stupid to let him back.

At the very least he deserves a very long sit out and not just a couple months. Maybe if he has a significant time out he will tone it down next time.

Besides, he only wants back because him, Volpone and company have some plot to use him to aggravate the board into wanting neg reps back as they were to punish him with. Why do you think Volpone goes on and on about it even though he never defended him before?

How have you acquired this knowledge?

Member opinions concerning rep should have no bearing on whether a banned member is allowed back in.

I'm gonna say unban Tasvir. Everybody else has been let back in, no reason to exclude Tasvir.

If I let him back, I think we should have a betting pool on how long he goes before getting banned again. There is a certain sick spectacle to watching Tas self-destruct . . .

I've never thought his ban should be forever...but like Cass, who was willfully and constantly flaunting breaking the rules, Tasvir's ban should be a long one.

As for Volpone, he's not made much of a secret of it. He pretty much verified it outright on Wordforge United on FB.

And if no one but Ted deserves a permanent ban, then why is Cheeky Monkey still banned?

I don't know...maybe because he not only earned himself an umpteenth ban, but cirumvented it with a dual which is why he was banned again.

He earned his time away. And his time should be longer because he does it constantly.

I must be missing something here.

In any case, I really don't have an opinion one way or the other, but I do question the purpose of having bannings or rules if someone can repeatedly break them and get back in via mock apology.

I'm guessing you don't see any privacy issues here.

Anyway, us staff folk aren't supposed to care about rep.

I'd rather we focus on the discussion at hand.

    And Cass did?

It's your board. If you want Tasvir here it's your business. Just know that you will live to regret it, just like every other owner, every other time.

No offense Clyde, but has it ever occurred to you that you might not be the most objective person when it comes to discussing privacy issues? I mean, you guard your privacy so zealously that we know nothing about you besides your username and a vague location. It's not that your input is unwelcome, as it presents a different side to the argument, but you are consistently at one end of the extreme, an extreme that is almost bordering on paranoia.

If Tasvir is let back in, does he have to be a member in full standing right out of the gate or, as a repeat offender, can he be put on some kind of probation? At least deny him Blue Room access or somesuch.

I know he'll probably self-immolate as usual; still, it's been a little slow around here and he'd probably stir the pot a little.

If it's possible to have a probation with no blue room, no PMs and no rep ability, that would limit him to just posts and much easier to monitor his crap during such a probation.

Ordinarily I'd say hell no since he causes too many headaches. Right now there isn't any other board drama to deal with though so why not.

This reads as "I don't know enough about you so you must be paranoid, therefore your opinions regarding privacy on Wordforge, while welcome, are extreme."

To answer plainly, your familiarity/unfamiliarity with me has no impact on my opinions.

Since you brought it up . . .

Is generating drama a staff function?

No, just saying that if/when he causes trouble it would be easy to deal with.

I'm thinking no. I've been suitably reminded of why he's not worth it.

Remember when I first took over and we had that whole deal with Hood? And I finally said "I don't want to be Lisa"?

Yeah, I'm letting Tas back in. Fuck it, he'll self-destruct again quickly enough. The more I think about it the less I want to permaban people just because someone doesn't like them.

    Good call.

If you throw all the jerks, assholes, misanthropes, sociopaths, and other assorted losers out of here, who are you left with?

    Just me.

And what fun would that be?
