Technical Note - Webhost Maintenance

Our webhost will be doing maintenance on their servers this Saturday. This is what they're saying:

After working with Parallels to resolve a security issue (See https://www.solarvps.com/forums/index.php?topic=609.0 for details) on >webserver<, we have determined that we will need to implement the same Kernel on all of our Linux Virtuozzo nodes.

We will be performing this in cycles over the next several weeks. Wile we are performing these security updates, we will also be performing Core Operating System and Virtuozzo updates so that we can minimize the impact on needed future maintenance schedules/announcements.

While we are announcing this publicly on our forums, we will be emailing each affected customer directly, as well. If you get an email from us regarding this, then at least one of your systems are affected. If you have multiple accounts, we will try to indicate which systems this affects for you.

Please see below for your maintenance timeframes.

We do apologize for the short notice. This is something that we would have preferred at least three day's notice for, so we do appreciate your patience and understanding about this.

At this time, we're announcing more maintenance periods:

Saturday (1:00 AM to 6:00 AM EST) – all Linux nodes at FITX and all jvpsunx nodes.
Sunday (1:00 AM to 6:00 AM EST) – All Windows nodes at FITX
Monday (1:00 AM to 6:00 AM EST) – all Linux nodes at Interserver and IRC

Please note that due to the amount of customers affected by Saturday's maintenance, some Hostnodes will more than likely be pushed to Sunday or Monday maintenance schedules.

I will contact each group directly and refer to the day for your maintenance and reference this thread.

Windows nodes in Miami, Dallas and Los Angeles will be announced shortly.

There are further maintenance periods planned for Linux customers in Miami, Dallas and Los Angeles. Yes, we understand that you've gone through maintenance previously, however, there's been a new Kernel that's been released which will need to be applied to your Hostnodes and a reboot required. We'll announce that when we're ready for this.
