If they're "organic" they have no preservatives, hence will decay relatively quickly. The shrink wrap prevents that by shielding the product from oxygen.
since you teach self defense give me your opinion: are men often harder to teach than women? In other words do a lot of men think they know it all and get stubborn? I would think they would because a lot of military weapons instructors say males can be harder to teach because they get on a macho trip and won't admit that they don't know as much as they think they know.
oh I see. But the rest of the cucumbers/vegetables in general in the high priced "organic" section aren't wrapped up. Are the English cucumbers actually grown in, then shipped from England? I need to google this whole thing.
Yes. Women actually listen to instructors, whereas men think they already know it all from watching Steven Segal movies.
I thought "organic" was just about the growing and harvesting. No artificial fertilizers, insecticides, etc. Whatever preservatives they put on produce doesn't work. Lettuce you buy at a grocery store is bad in a couple of days. Lettuce you grow yourself will last for more than a week...maybe two.
I don't know nothin' about no English cucumbers. It was an impulse buy. Either that or BBQ pork rinds. Usually the latter wins, but cats aren't known to be scared of those.
Buying organic in a grocery store is a crap shoot as corporate farms have paid legislators to reduce restrictions as to what constitutes organic (as described by MAIHS). If you want reasonably priced organic produce, go to a farmers market.
When purchasing meat and poultry, look for sustainably raised. Poultry doesn’t get ... hormones and steroids or whatever else beef and pork do. So, packaging for chicken that advertises “no whatever” is just a gimmick.
It's not been my experience, but my style is designed so that strength, athletic ability and even age don't matter as much as the "traditional" arts. In short, if someone wants those things we send them somewhere else. Other's mileage may vary.
Yes your type of class would not work out for the wanna-be Steven Segal types. They would be trying to sharp-shoot and mock everything you tried to teach them.
Are you kidding me? Have you SEEN a Tyson chicken breast lately? They're literally* the size of a ribeye. Those chickens must be figuratively** 4 feet tall. * Yes, seriously. ** Maybe not so seriously. But they gotta be HUGE!
True. But I don’t think that’s hormones. I think it’s genetic engineering. I don’t know. I could be wrong, I seldom buy meat from a grocery store anyway. I get it from a crowd fund sourcing coop kind of thing.
They aren’t. But that doesn’t mean they get the same shit beef and pork does. I’ll have to Google again. Did some serious research a couple years ago, but I’ve forgotten all except that I definitely don’t want to buy any from a grocery store.
Just saying. Here's a size comparison. Sam's Club ribeye vs. Sam's Club Tyson chicken breast. With what's left of a not at all scary shrink wrapped English cucumber for size comparison.
You got that right. Ever since I had my surgery I've tried to limit portions. Meat of any kind is "recommended" to be no more than 4 ounces (yeah right). Those "chicken" breasts come in at so much more than that that I have to cut them in half to keep them to a reasonable portion.
Same. Except I'm limited to 3 ounces. That's another reason I stopped buying chicken from the grocery store.
I'm really glad we could shift the discussion to food from guns. I hate guns. Maybe Bick can confirm, but I don't think any fresh fruits or vegetables get "preservatives" added. maybe some wax in the washing process to make them shiny. Some might be shipped in low O2 bags in crates to reduce oxidation. Of course refrigeration helps. The individual plastic wrap is marketing. Luv me some GMOs.
IIRC, a lot of produce gets sprayed with something as part of the shipping process? But yeah, refrigeration helps.
