I have removed his access to the Gray Room, not to returned to him for violating the rule in there that mods and admins from other sites will not use the Gray Room against WFers who post at their sites. He made it very clear in the TNZ Changes thread what he was doing and in fact said "he knew this WF account would come in handy". He has basically done nothing but troll the last few days, but he did join quite awhile ago so I hesitate to ban him completely...on that issue I'd like some opinions, please.
Having not read the thread, who is he/she/it elsewhere? Outside of some earth shattering revelation, I think you did the right thing.
Ten Lubak is the TNZ moderator Garak at TBBS. Face said he was joining and Garamet outed his dual as "Elite" and the usual talk of TNZ is full of wusses commenced...enter Ten Lubak, trolling and insulting Face and Archangel. The usual pissing match until Face crossed the line enough at TNZ to get banned. Hell, here is a summation: http://www.wordforge.net/showpost.php?p=1359980&postcount=245
My question is, should Lubak be banned for no contribution but trolling and flaming...or do we let it ride for awhile? I can't say I am fond of his implication that he keeps an account here simply to keep tabs on and entrap Wordforgers at TBBS.
Again, Garak/Lubak clearly broke the rules. With few exceptions he has done nothing but troll and flame. Banning him would certainly be justified. But it's not mandatory. And in this case I don't think Garak/Lubak's actions merit being banned.
Well, to show that we're better than they are, for one thing. We let the kiddies come here and play. Otherwise, just keep an eye on 'im.
Well, I'm inclined to agree, but not because I think we are "better" than anyone. Mainly because he kept it to one room and it was more of a poster vs poster thing than him trying to get the whole board riled up like Zodiac and DarthSikle were. I also agree with the keeping an eye on him bit, because, again I don't like the idea a mod from another board is here solely to watch people he knows frequents his home board. Makes me feel squicky. I was just interested in opinions.
Because banning a member should be reserved for more serious offenses or an accumulation of warnings. This instance seems like a bit of cross board trolling between members who have some sort of history or at the very least know one another. This isn't a new member coming out of nowhere to flame people at random. It's clear who he is, why he came here and why he was flaming a select few members. Basically, one of our members flamed/trolled his forum and he came here to do the same. Sure, policy permits his banning but if we treat policy as though it's law we'll invite and end up being BBS lawyers and personally I'd rather we all just be members. With the staff being members who have volunteered to sort the occasional thread, answer questions and remind others of Wordforge's few rules. And on rare occasion the folks who have to ban other members. I don't think this is one of those occasions.
Actually, he joined quite awhile ago and basically made and used the account to monitor the Gray Room and be ready to use it if he ever needed to. Pretty much exacly what the Gray Room rule is there to prevent. He basically admitted it at TK and came right out and said he got what he wanted. I'm not worried about him and never really felt a need to ban him. I like to keep an open dialogue going on such things though and feel discussion often reveals problems with policies.
