Obviously, I think this is kinda sucky because it may take trade away from me. However, having been on the estate agents' side of the coin, I have to question whether it will work out for a vendor and may, in fact, cost them more in the long run as they'll get so frustrated, they'll end up with an agent anyway. The current market is very sticky outside London. CML have reported less mortgages being signed up, and price increases have become subdued. It's a different beast from a year ago and I think Tesco have missed the boat with this one.

Would you have your property advertised by supermarket?

Wal Mart will have nothing to do with my house.

And it doesn't want to, as far as I know. :D

Is this what we have to look forward to over here?

America's first Tesco stores are under construction even now.

This has been in the pipeline for a long, long time. They've been buying up significant portions of land in the UK. They're getting too lazy in waiting for the lengthier planning permission to site new stores, so they're leaving the land to rot for a long time.

The rumour has been they are going to do some new housing builds, due to the easier planning permissions, construction, sale & overall turnaround.

    Fucking capitalist pigs!

good for tesco - more competition will be good for customers.

i can see them hiring every qualified HIP inspector though - as leverage against the estate agent mafioso. its what i'd do if i was their size :borg:

Funny, tho, how these monster retailers don't seem to have a chance on the continent. Walmart, which had many trembling in fear, pissed off with its tail between the legs. Tesco doesn't even try. Even tho we have a wider variety of smaller retail chains, they seem quite well dug in.
