He’s doubling down because if he loses, he’s done for. At least that’s what I’ve heard.

A Russian businessman did put up a $1 million bounty. I feel he's coming up short.

    Ummm…. WTF?!?!

I don’t know much more about Soviet nuke plants than the Wikihole I went down after watching Chernobyl.

Is there danger of a runaway reactor due to this kind of attack?

If so how is that different from actually dropping nukes?

The Wiki entry on them is rather short. Assuming they're closer in design to Fukushima than Chernobyl, if everything goes south, the danger isn't necessarily as bad as what happened at Chernobyl, but it still ain't good.

It's been a long time since I cried over a news report, but David Muir's story from the Ukraine/Poland was a heartbreaker: young mothers with their children...the children with their favorite stuffed animals, in one case with their dog. Somewhat leavened by the strangers at the train station offering shelter to refugees: one couple from Denmark offering shelter to up to 8 people...my God... :sob:

Be glad you don't follow the tech sector closely. A whole lotta tech companies (really big ones like Microsoft) have facilities in Ukraine. Folks from divisions in other parts of Europe are driving hours to get to the border of Poland and Ukraine, to give the folks who worked in Ukraine a ride and a place to stay. One of the problems that they're running into, however, is that the Polish authorities are giving priority to Ukrainian nationals while forcing non-Ukrainian nationals (who were in Ukraine for work, study, or tourism) to the back of the line. This seems to me like a case where you should just pretty much let everyone in and sort it all out later, but apparently not.

He’s 100% right about the VDV. I was assigned Russian at SWCS which not only did I spent six months learning Russian 6 days a week, but also cultural studies and military organization.

I’ve posted this before but it seems more relevant now:

If you ever need someone to stand on a lit BBQ grill and spray from the hip the VDV is DEFINITELY the ones to call.

Also, just wanted to point out that even in this propaganda video no has a particularly strong exit. And in fact one guy slips his way out the door.

So, I feel a bit better. You know, like when you realize that the guy's pulled a derringer on you instead of a Glock.

Could you imagine what a western military would have done to that stuck convoy by now? It would be diabolical.

It’s really a shame no sympathetic nonaligned nations fly American planes. We could loan them so many planes.
