I don't know. It seems like I did have something with curry in it once many years ago. Maybe it was Indian food. I recall not liking it...the curry that is...but tastes change over time.
Been to a few Indian buffets here, and they've been quite good. Whatever six-armed elephant God-thing the Indians worship, it smiled upon them by giving them chicken makhani.
I think Indian is the only cuisine that can do buffets and have the food still be good. Same with TV dinners, actually.
So, funny thing about their multi-limbed gods....my roommate's aunt took a visit there, and the guide told her that these gods DON'T have multiple limbs! It was just the only way to depict the movement of the arms in the photographs since we didn't have holograms back 2000 years ago and Hindu Wizards don't have the moving pic tech that Harry Potter's mates do, evidentally #trufax
What I like about Indian is that price really isn't indicative of good food. You can go to an expensive place and spend $50 a person and have it be just ok while you can go to a $12 place and have the best food of your life. It is all about knowing the good places. Several of my Indian friends have told me the best Indian food they have ever had in America was at a little hole in the wall family run place called Punjabi Tandoor. http://www.punjabitandoor.com/onlinemenu.html You'd be hard pressed to spend $15 a person and you can get a truly excellent lunch for $8. There are so many South Asians working on H1B Visas at nearby Qualcomm that standards for authenticity are high and they use Indian levels of spice rather than watering recipes down for western tastes. Seriously good food, made fresh, and everyone working there is in one family (grandparents, son with his wife, grandkids). I have had Indians tell me they have eaten at expensive Indian restaurants in L.A. and NYC but that that place is better and cheaper.
