I have to totally agree on that one. I have seen every one of those movies a billion times and can quote them, but aside from tarentino movies I am pretty much done with it once I have seen it. Maybe a few from the 90's. I will give that until the mid 90's for movies like The Crow.

Becaause he literally said white. That’s why “white” is in quotation marks

    I don’t see racism everywhere. I’m not @Diacanu

55 is still pretty old though, you’ve probably got osteoporosis or something at this point

    When were your formative years?

Certainly there are exceptions to the rules as far as television and movie acting/writing, but generally speaking it's not even close. I just posted movies and tv shows that are far better than anything today with very few exceptions. You want some comedians? Watch the Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts on Netflix. Show me something better.

three hours a day? Sounds kinda rough on the joints and your immune system/recovery at age 55. That said when coronapalooza closed my gym I still did cardio, just not the cardio I wanted to do so I found alternative cardio for a month or so in the form of rucksack walking and longer, slower runs than I normally do at the gym. If your gym is closed do you have any safe options for cardio?

I would have to go with pryor, Murphy, and even he who shall not be named because he drugged and raped women. I was even reminded of Jerry Seinfeld. I loved his stand upm and his new special is not bad. I hated his TV show.

Thinking of parody movies where is the new Mel Brooks? Modern parody movies are normally references but not jokes. I can still watch Kids in the Hall and Monty Python and have a great laugh. I can even watch 70's and 80s SNL and it is still funny. Adam Sandler killed that show. I do still wonder WTF happened to people like Dennis Miller. It is like the year 2000 did not cause a worldwide disaster, but it killed so many other things like music, TV, and movies.

Sounds like you're a tad older than I am, but not too far off. Dean Martin is awesome. There's no doubt there was some great stuff in the 70's and 80's... hell, any decade had some great stuff (along with a lot more garbage that is quickly forgotten.)

But you're expressing opinions and preferences, not facts.

    Nostalgia.

Look it up in the dictionary.

I have an elliptical but it's not the same as playing sports. I'm currently playing outdoor 3 wall and 1 wall racquetball, mostly vs much younger guys. Doesn't replace the weekly tournaments though. I do the Fitbit contests too. My high step count for one day is over 50k, but that was just to send a message.

I never said I was stating facts. But I did offer examples that strongly support my opinion. I don't expect everyone to agree obviously.

I remember an anime convention giving out step counters which you could turn in at the end of the convention and your count was the number of points that counted towards some vote they were having. All I know is that it was not long before every person realized you could up your count by simply using the jerk off motion.

I am not telling this story because I think you are cheating, but I think you are cheating. The only thing you walk 50k steps in a day for is trump porn on OAN.

Objective evidence that the 70's-80's era was a better time to grow up. Game over.

Not cheating. If someone has to cheat to win, that's no win. My best friend put up 60k in a day the next week. He, otoh, is a notorious cheater.

That is the sort of thing a person with a microdick would say. Yes, the thought has crossed my mind, and yes I can deal with a shitload of pain, but that shit is big on some of us. I really don't think I am the type to survive such a massive loss. I might not even be bothered if I had yours. I am pretty sure you can totally wear the smallest of bikinis and no one would notice. I bet some women have a bigger clitoris than your dick. Dude if I woke up with your dick I would do a happy dance like you wouldn't believe. Brazillian and a bikini here I come. I could be a fucking ballarina, wear some really tight daisy dukes, and get some cute panties that don't get stretched all to fuck and back.

Do you know what sweaty balls feel like in the summer ? Of course you don't. I am one of the people who is quite sympathetic to manspreading and will argue with any woman who thinks it is a crime.

    80s kid here...
Had a mostly good time. Got to live through some of the best punk rock years in close orbit of where it was happening. Saw and met some legendary people, did some cross country travelling, got to be an extra in a bunch of tv and movies. Of course, also spent a couple years in group homes and juvie jail, and there were several "between homes" times too... so it wasn't all great.
a couple of decent vids on youtube of that era

    This ones pretty good

racquetball is no joke! One the gyms at Fort Gordon I used to go to had a small group of old retired officers who played constantly. One of the guys was 80 years old! And that guy could hustle like nobody's business. When he was actually in the army decades ago he was the best player for quite a few years running.

I’ve always felt like a man born in the wrong time and it frustrates me sometimes, but I’ve always been one to play the cards I’m dealt. If I had a time machine, I’d love to visit a whole host of other times, but I wouldn’t want to live in any of them for a long period of time. I live for the here and now. Also, what @We Are Borg said. It is what it is.

I tend to like older music from the 50s through the 80s, but you have to keep in mind we are listening to that music through decades of filtering the good music from the bad music. Shitty music has been around forever. Some of it withstands the test of time, while some of it gets forgotten. Certainly there is more music being produced now, which contributes to hearing a lot more shitty music, but there have been some great songs and albums made over the last 30 years.

As for TV, there is no question we are in a new golden age of TV. Some modern/recent TV series are better than classic movies at this point. Modern cinema is not doing as great...

And again, there were plenty of shitty movies and TV show getting made in the 70s and 80s. They just didn't withstand the test of time.

Sports are sports. There are always going to be teams that knock the other competition out of the park. It's largely the same story with different players.

Thanks, FF! I really learned something! :polarslam2:

*A shaft of sunlight stabs down into the room, and an angel rides the beam down from Heaven*

    Heaven choir- Hallelujaaaaahhh!! Hallelujaaaahhhh!!!

Angel- You did it, FF!! That was the exact moment you were put on this Earth for! :D

    FF- :happydance:

Angel- So...now you're all done. *Lethally injects FF*

    FF's ghost- :sigh:

*They both go back up the sunbeam*

    Me- :waving:

yup...cross town as a kid, cross Canada a few times (go to Sudbury, turn left), and down the US west coast. A couple trips into Quebec in the early 90s too. Hopped a few freights as well, but that was long before oogles.
Funny thing about the punk culture up here is how connected it was over long distances. You always knew someone to look for once you got into town who would at least shelter you for a night or two through a mutual.

“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.”

This has all happened before and will happen again.
