Had some people over to watch the game, so I cooked for them.

It started to rain before the fire got going well, but I improvised.

When you smoke, do you put your fire in the grill and the meats in the tower?

No, they're actually separate chambers. The guy who built it for me misunderstood my "directions" a little and made the tall box on the end separate (though it has its own venting/draft controls). I mostly use that box to roast corn, building a fire in the bottom and stacking the ears on the racks inside.

All I would need to do is get a torch and cut an opening between the two boxes, but I'm still mulling over what I want to do with this pit. Part of me wants to have a separate fire box built and welded onto the right side of the pit, where the "handle" is. It would make it a lot easier to cook briskets in the main chamber, then. Part of me, though, wants to leave it alone and just go buy a much bigger, nicer pit that I saw for sale at an outdoor/camping/hunting store in a neighboring town. That thing is the Rolls Royce of pits. But, it cost something like $1400 dollars. :marathon:

Link Please. I like having an adjacent fire box.
