What are you excluded from? I'm trying to think what my manly whiteness excludes me from and I can't think of a thing

I mean fuck, we can even go into women's bathrooms now! :ramen:

Because they are not celebrating this person’s record, their celebrating their race, gender or sexual orientation.

Could it be that the only difference between them and the other candidates is who they are, rather than their educational background or professional experience? Thurgood Marshall was tapped for SCOTUS because of his qualifications and his ethnicity. Same with Clarence Thomas, Kagan, and a few others. If you look up Amy Comey Barrett's qualifications, you'll see that she's one of the least qualified (at least in terms of experience) justices currently sitting on the bench. She was picked for the spot because of her gender and her political views. I don't recall you complaining about that.

At least FF admits he's a right-winger who hates left-wingers.
UA can't even admit that part of it to himself.

Context applies to this as to everything. We live in a world that has been shaped by centuries of conscious discrimination against non-males, non-whites and non-straights. We are about 60 years into the conscious discrimination against people by race having been largely treated as illegal, maybe 50 years into most conscious discrimination against women being made illegal, and there's generously 10 years since gays won the right to marry, although many other forms of discimination against LGBTQ people are allowed. Even after that conscious by-law discrimination was made illegal in many cases, people still tried to put up different roadblocks to bring it back.

In this context, it seems naive at best to think that the centuries of discrimination has or will go to wayside just because, or to think that all discrimination is equivalent.

It's possible to celebrate both. Believe it or not, it's possible to get highly qualified people who are diverse.

Indeed, when you look at the White House press release, it talks exclusively about their experience and qualifications and says nothing about their race:

    https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing...mes-thirty-eighth-round-of-judicial-nominees/

The first one was a state court judge for more than 10 years, and a federal magistrate for an additional five years.

The second has 20 years as a federal public defender and 2 years as a state court judge.

The next has five years as a state prosecutor and five as an assistant U.S. attorney.

The fourth has 20 years as an assistant U.S. attorney.

Unless there is something unusual in that experience, that IMO clearly meets the baseline for qualification.

By contrast, Trump nominated a number of judges that the ABA rated not qualified.

You're talking to someone whose compatriots still think Obama was the Worst President Ever, and when you ask them why, it's a bunch of nonsense birther and pizzagate drivel.
When confronted with wiggle-proof evidence of minority competence, they just lie.

One is where you store your presidential staff, the other is where you store the vocal detractors :diacanu:
