Kind of interesting how all of these big name conservatives are being taken down by accusations like this, or in Trump's case attempted before quietly disappearing... Eh. He's not to big to be fired. Honestly the sad part is it doesn't even have to be true for someone like him to lose his job. The advertisers have already started pulling ads, so it's probably only a matter of time until the network takes action.
Because they're hypocrites. These are the same guys who say that gays will burn in hell, and are causing the moral decline of civilization, but then they get caught fucking a guy in a bathroom stall at the airport. I'm not saying this is what Bill does, and there's a possibility that these allegations are false, but they are something that should be investigated. Women already face enough shame and distrust when they come forward and say that they were sexually assaulted. It's time we start believing them until we find a reason not to do so, and on a case by case basis.
Didn't bill already survive an advertiser boycott of this level years ago? It might have been Glen beck I am remembering from his days before the blaze, but I thought something like this already happened to him and faux didn't get rid of him then. From a money perspective they should toss him and find someone clean and new to spout their tired old rhetoric. They have men on staff who are not having trouble with keeping their hands to themselves, and Bill is costing them millions in settlements, and now his show is becoming an advertising dead zone. If they do not want to piss off their base bill should be allowed to retire and just bring in a new curmudgeon. There has to be some other pasty, bald, liver spotted old fool they can get to yell at the kids on the lawn.
We have always known this is what goes on at the old school boys club, and faux is their news source. Of course they are a bit rapey over there. Is anyone really surprised? O Reilly isn't a bill Cosby. He has always been a public dirty old man. The real problem I have is now we have Don "grab em by the pussy" cheeto trump telling everyone Roger and Bill are good guys despite clearly being way too rapey for any professional environment today. I hope they slam faux hard and shut down any hope that trump will bring back the good old days where they could just beat the accusers and silence them.
There is where I disagree with you. You don't just assume someone is guilty and there needs to be damn good evidence before you destroy someone's life. Yes, even someone who you do not like's life.
Yes, particularly the gold digging whores. We MUST believe them until the celebrity is proven innocent!
This comes as a shock to no one. We already had Bill on audio drunk calling an assistant while masturbating and engaging in some of the most unintentionally hilarious phone sex I've ever heard. Then you have the story about Judy Slater being openly racist in a way that would of been frowned upon 20 years ago let alone today. And most, if not all of this was overseen by Roger Ailes who is best known as the runner up behind Bill Cosby for the most rapey scumbag of the last decade. You do have to give fox news credit though, promoting sexual assault and racism are hallmarks of conservative values so at least they're being true to their audience.
Or the liars who make up stories about sports figures and who are proven to have completely made everything up. Definitely have to believe them. Sometimes John's left wing nonsense ("We have to believe them all!") makes him look like a child. A very special child. On the other hand, fuck Bill, he's an asshole.
And my angle is that I'm not saying he's innocent, but that I've seen false accusations used to destroy someone many times before, and that even after the truth has come out, so many still hold on to the lynch mob mentality and are convinced the accused is guilty simply because they were accused. Except for that whole "innocent until proven guilty" thing.
Well, on the one hand, I'm not on the "listen and believe", side, because not only do false allegations happen, but in very big famous cases. One that almost brought down Rolling Stone. Did we all take amnesia pills about this? BUT, I also believe you can predict future behavior on past performance, and O'Reilly has done this shit before. Just by his weak character, and the laws of math, he harassed somebody.
Unless they are black and named Obama. Or perhaps if their last name is Clinton. Of if they happen to be Muslim or live in a Muslim country. But you do not do it to old white republican Christian guys who have many similar instances with evidence and guilt admittance built up over time.
That's the standard which must apply in a court of law, but it absolutely cannot be the standard employed when investigating an accusation. Otherwise you couldn't investigate anybody for anything.
Investigation doesn't involve presumed guilt, and an accusation is not reason enough to destroy someone's life. Of course with the regressive left, evidence is irrelevant, and an accusation is the same as conviction, because "listen and believe."
First off, this is faux news. There's no easy payday for the network that fights against women and things like the existence of rape and sexual harassment. Faux is not some liberal place that freaks out and pays people off for not being PC. They are not going to let their biggest misogynist talent get hammered by a woman because it is just easier. They would smear the hell out of her and do everything in their power to destroy any reputation she had for having the insolence to challenge their men. Especially when ruler and Roger ran the place. Where is this payday? Your reputation is shot. You are now a troublemaker who will probably never be hired again. A few million is nice, but how long is that going to last trying to maintain the lifestyle you had? That career is over and is not coming back. Not to mention your name is now everywhere so even if you want to flip burgers you have to explain why you let bill o'theass touch you. Maybe that payday isn't so hot, especially after taxes and the layer get done with it.
It kind of has to. When the police are investigating a murder, they work by "ruling out" possible suspects. That is, they assume a suspect is guilty until they can prove he couldn't have done it. Even a grand jury only has to evaluate the general probability that the accused may have committed the crime. "Innocent until proven guilty" doesn't kick in until the actual trial starts.
"Innocent until proven guilty" is in place until the state can prove its case. Gathering evidence doesn't require any kind of presumption of guilt, it simply requires procedure be followed, and the civil rights are not violated.
Captain X is right. Casey Anthoney walked on murder charges because they couldn't establish a concrete motive despite all the bizarre behavior. That's how our courts should be, even if we do get one or two guilty people walking off.
I'm not talking about courts. Of course the defendant in a criminal trial is presumed innocent, and that's the way it should be. All I'm saying is that the person tasked with conducting an investigation can't presume innocence, or nothing would ever get investigated. "Innocent until proven guilty" has become little more than a catch phrase, and often misapplied.
There is no investigation going on. Leftists are simply pushing advertisers to drop O'Reilly so he no longer rakes in cash for Fox and they toss him. Even if he wasn't an asshole and sexual harasser leftists would be looking for someway to get advertisers to drop their advertising during his show in an attempt to get him off the air.
