In my case, that's bullshit. I like Trek. I like the new movie. I don't give a fuck about being "popular". In fact, I generally eschew popular or faddish things. I still don't own an MP3 player, for example and, if it weren't for work, I'm not convinced that I'd own a cell phone.
YES. Why do you go see a film looking for something to pick apart and hate? Did you ever consider sitting back and trying to enjoy a story? Cripes.
Who says I hate a film just because I nitpick it? Did it ever occur to you that this is, in fact, how I enjoy a story? That like the guy who has to take apart everything he owns just to see it works, I enjoy picking apart stories to see how all the various elements fit together. WTF is wrong with that?
Why is it when something stupid happens on screen suddenly I'm a jerk for pointing out it was fucking stupid ! "The black hole is going to eat the universe! Argh!" -Say what in the who now? -- Can't you just enjoy the story ?!!! -No, that is the story and it's fucking dumb.
Says she who goes out of her way to obsess and nitpick about Heroes whenever and wherever a heroes critic can be found. Why the fuck were you still watching that show anyway? Fucking batty chicks . . .
Actually, Romulan Warbirds use an artifical quantum singularity as it's energy source for a warp drive.... So if one could accept that, there is no stretch of the imagination that romulan scientist know a thing or two about black holes and the artificial induction of one or two... And Spock was an Ambassador on Romulus.... and acting on behalf of Romulus... What's the beef all about? I know... :nerd:
You know what I don't fucking like about the fans that are complaining about every fucking thing about this movie? (I don't mean you, but the people you are saying it to) ... ..THEY DON'T FUCKING UNDERSTAND HOW IRRATIONAL A PERSON MIGHT BECOME IF THEIR ENTIRE FUCKING PLANET GOT DESTROYED RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEIR EYES!!!! We see people get scary mad and absolutely bonkers through jealousy, rage, cheating lovers, yadda yadda yadda.. how would people feel, specially a passionate set of people such as ROMULANS, who are ancient Vulcans BUT WITHOUT THE LOGIC and hence, violence deep within their cores.. when they see their entire freaking planet DESTROYED?! How many of us would really make SMART CHOICES at that point in time, specially if under a day or so our entire world was destroyed AND we were thrown back a hundred and twenty six years in the past?! Nero's madness and his motivations are absolutely and positively LOGICAL within the set story.
If I hated Star Trek, I wouldn't "nitpick" about it. The more you are involved in the franchise, the more you "nitpick". So there.
I finally saw it tonight. I liked it. The thing that annoyed me most was Chekov's exaggerated Russian accent, but besides that, it's a decent film. At least I can remember what it's about, which is more than I could say for Insurrection or Nemesis.
Handy guide to prevent that can be found here: [YT="What's the difference between Star Wars and Star Trek?"]ZUUhTgWpjSc[/YT]
I just saw it today. Absolutely ridiculous. The plot was overly-contrived. I had to hear the Beastie Boys in a Star Trek movie. The Star Wars monster chasing Kirk until another, bigger Star Wars monster eats it and continues chasing Kirk was kinda stupid. Sometimes the dialogue was great, sometimes it was cringeworthy. But the acting was good, the action scenes were directed well, and it was a whole lot of fun to watch.
Yeah, there were some good things and some bad things. It has potential. I'm hoping that most of the bad were due to the writers strike during the filming. They weren't allowed to do any rewrites during filming.
