Dropped by SGDQ Sunday afternoon! Sat in on a couple of runs, visited the arcade and button-mashed against KJ in whichever game has Ken in it, and played a couple of pinball games. One was very charmingly old-school and didn't bother putting the ball where my flippers could do anything.

A lot of hall space dedicated to Doctors Without Borders. :) And more arcade games, and a guy twiddling on the musical kind of keyboard.

We wound up spending the most time in the board games room. Someone glitched the room so the game being run was visible on one of the walls. King Boo was in there :D but he was focused on someone else's game and I didn't ask for an autograph. Really enjoyed Fox in the Forest, Mythe was cute but not much to it for 2 players, Epic PVP Fantasy was enjoyable once we got into the flow.

A lot of gals around, even though they don't show up onstage. There was a girls-only marathon within the past couple of months to I guess get more female speedrunners comfortable in this setting. They definitely exist!

KJ wants to get up super-early for the Skyrim run. :calli:

We were offered a free Red Bull each at check-in. :calli: Best Buy is also advertising, I guess this thing is getting more mainstream now.

This thing has felt pretty mainstream for a couple years now. It sounds like a convention these days.

That girls only marathon was cool. Watched the Mario Party Mini Game Island run and that was rad.

I feel like all the runs at GDQs I want to watch are at like, 3 AM. I'm not super into your Castlevania, Metroid, etc. runs. I want to see Marble Madness, Tony Hawk Underground 2, Final Doom (the examples of runs I've missed because they're during off-hours.) I'll catch them on youtube later.

This is not the steam thread, this is the gdq thread.

TasBot Celeste was crazy, and impressive with the somewhat unpredictable enemies they had to solve.

Let's Go Eevee was just a super fun ride. The audience was into it, the couch and runner were entertaining, the game was cute, and they raised a lot of extra money. And then there was cake after.

I couldn't follow the Zelda+Metroid randomizer as well as I would have liked because I didn't know the items by sight but it was a fun concept and the banter was very funny.

Still have to watch Grand Poo World.

Also my tablet changed Metroid to Netflix. <_<

I never care for the TASbot stuff, its its boring. The lets go eevee run was fun, as was the chrono trigger run. I wish they would change their charity foe SGDQ though, MSF, doctors without borders, has been doing some questionable shit.

GDQ running a Frame Fatales event this week, female speedrunners only. No donations, just encouraging that part of the community.

This Splasher platformer looks daunting. Platformers have come a long way since "jump on the turtles and the walking mushrooms".

Despite the pandemic, AGDQ 2021 sets a GDQ record for fastest to $1 million! [IMG]

Three game world records set this year, including back-to-back Sonic runs. Also there are lamps.
