In this original series Trek episode at the end when Kirk is going to be taking on three of the other drill thralls as part of his wager with the Providers for the freedom of the thralls and the Enterprise crew, the Providers give out loud the rules of the contest. One clear rule is that if either Kirk or his opponents step on the wrong color of the arena floor that they will be deprived of one weapon each time. Yet in the episode Kirk steps on the other sides color at least 4-6 times by my count and his opponents step on his color at least a couple of times yet none of them ever have a weapon taken away from them. In remastering of this episode why didn't they redo the colors of the arena floor to eliminate this plot hole? Sure it would be doable.
Then why do so many in this forum go apeshit over people slamming Star Trek: Discovery or Game of Thrones?
Since the floor isn’t a visual effect (this isn’t a prequel Star Wars film, after all), it would have entailed basically recoloring a large number of frames largely manually, especially if the camera was in motion. One of the reasons they were able to update so many of the computer readouts in remastered TNG was because the frame was static (and often burned-in as a visual effect anyway).
He does that more than once in the original series IIRC. And it hardly matters here as the woman (Shauna) was basically a prison guard or slave master. While she was pretty hot looking and sounded and acted naïve, she was still the moral equivalent of a concentration camp guard.
