The last time he locked his account and asked to come back, Elwood told him it would be the last time and he wouldn't do it again...we are not going to lock and unlock accounts constantly just because someone can't take the heat.

I'm not sure if he remembered that or not when he asked to have the account locked.

Well, if he forgot something that important, he probably doesn't deserve the "Sherlock Holmes" username anyway.

Ted's a good guy and I hope he comes back. I think he's made some mistakes and some comments that maybe weren't the best, but we've all done that at some point. Hell, Volpone says stupid shit all the time and he's still here.

I thought his Civil War analysis was spot on.

Ted says he can't even view WF or go into chat -- he says he's been IP blocked at server level.

from what I can tell from the email he sent me, he regretted getting locked soon after doing it and when he went to ask if he could come back, found out he's been booted forever. So he can't create a new account even if he wants to.

As I said to him, I don't particularly want to get involved and it's a good opportunity for him to go out and live. Such internet politics will seem trivial if you have something when you swich off th PC. However, I think he's genuinely very upset about it all. He seems emotionally attached to WF and it all just strikes me as a bit callous to make him, as someone with comparatively little going for him and zero confidence, feel as crap and second rate as possible by being ostracised from the social situation he enjoys most.

It's a little sad, but we all sleep in the beds that we make for ourselves.

He knew what would happen, and he did it. Half of life is living with mistakes we've made and learning from them. Maybe he'll learn this time.

As sad as Ted's life seems, he isn't going to get special treatment for that. When you do something stupid , you get called out on it; and if you're mature about it, it'll blow over pretty quickly. If not... Hell, DAYTON of all people has a full set of green pips after being five reds pips deep in shit two years ago I'd say that many here are willing to forgive and forget the past when a poster makes an effort to change. Ted shutting up about women deserving rape is why I didn't jump on the bandwagon to troll him. Some of his posts on cops were pretty stupid, but we all have our issue that borders on wank.

I think the IP blocking is way extreme on Elwood's behalf, though. That being said, I hope Ted is able to work on getting his RL in order, for his sake. The added "HAHAH I told you so, suckas!!! " factor would be an added bonus.

The IP blocking is a bit much, but if Ted wants to register under a different account in the future and start fresh, I think he should be free to do so, IMO. Given how his name is mud more or less and some people will keep on trolling him no matter what he does, he probably should have done that anyway.

Ted made some mistakes and certainly didn't manage some of his responses very well, but the sharks were a bit overboard, as well.

That means he will have no clue about bypassing IP blocks.

sort of sounds like a permaban to me. And he certainly feels like it is.
