The Shield begins its 7th and final season tomorrow on FX at 10.

If you haven't seen it you've missed out. Though, it's pretty late to start now.

I first saw The Shield during the Iraq War. I was mesmerized, and couldn't pull myself away from the TV, and watched a whole season's episodes
    in one sitting.

Hey, the war will always be there, it's not going anywhere....you must
    have priorities! :D

EW had an overview of the previous six seasons. I don't know if it's that hard to get into it now. Basically, all you need to know is:

Vic Mackey is a corrupt cop who killed one police officer to avoid getting busted. He also has a thing for excessive force and for doing shady deals with the criminals he technically should be keeping off the street.

Despite all this, he's managed to stay one step ahead of the reformers and Internal Affairs so far.

He's run a Strike Team that ripped off the Armenian mob to the tune of $2 mil. Lem, one of the members, got in trouble with IA. Fearing that Lem was going to rat everyone else out, another team member, Shane, killed Lem.

Vic's finally learned about Shane's murdering Lem, and is about to be forcibly retired. But before he goes, he wants to bring down a frontman for the Mexican cartel and keep his promise to get Lem's killer. The problem is that Shane not only knows all the crap the Strike Team's done but also has tipped off the Armenians to the $2 million heist.
