The Walking Dead Season 8 [SPOILERS]

A not so bad episode.

Prediction on the big mystery of the episode.

The person who negan picked up is the one who escaped from Dwight at Alexandria and knows that Dwight was killing his own people to help them escape the siege. One person got away and they would have been banged up and wandering around alone trying to get back to Negan's base. It is the only one of Negan's people I can think of that is not accounted for and even though they said she was dead they were just assuming because no one saw her afterward.

Hm. So this was the episode where the alleged hero becomes the bad guy. About time they admitted that ongoing theme.

Well. So, yea. Anybody else got the feeling that Rick is being turned into a murdering psychopath while Negan is on some weird path to redemption? I mean face it. First Rick starts that war by murdering the people in the observatory (or whatever that was). In this episode he turns on the same guys who just saved his life and were on the verge of joining forces with him. Not even psycho Morgan agreed with that completely if I Interpret his glance right. He did some throatsticking (tm) though.

Meanwhile in the scrapyard, Negan and Weird Ass Scrapyard Lady have what amounts to a friendly conversation after he talks his way out of her killing him. He could have gone all Lucille on her. Easily. But he didn't. That makes him the clearly better person - something that has gone on for quite a while now. Also, he saw the light. In the form of a helicopter flying right over him and WASL. But alas, they didn't see them waving. Or didn't want to see them. Who knows. Here's your likely season finale cliffhanger.

Now I don't know how to interpret the switching. I'm sure the writers do this on purpose. Could be haphazardly showing how a good guy turns into a bad guy given the right circumstances. Could also be that Andrew Lincoln wants out of his contract and *gasp* Negan becomes the new Rick somehow. Now that would be something I could get behind. That would finally be an unexpected turn of events for the ages. Here's to hope…

Anyway, Dwight and Simon should be done. Treason at his highest ranks? Won't fly. I wonder if the writers got even more creative than shoving a man into an oven alive.

There's also a bit on Lucille herself. Even I, who has never read a page of the comics, know there's a Negan origin story in comic form so nothing new for most I guess.

As for the rest of the episode, OK. The bar was really low coming from last week's so it's fine.

My interpretation is Rick was disgusted with himself after taking out those saviors, especially after his conversation with Morgan about his son, and that's why he could read Carl's letter, and Carl's letter is going to pull him back to the good side.

I really keep forgetting the names of all those supporting characters. For example I know that most Saviours we saw more than once have a name that was mentioned at some point. But other than Negan, Simon and Dwight... There are just too many of those characters.

Same goes for out hero group btw. Other than the originals I have no idea who's called what. I remember the faces. Much easier.
