So in the process of making a legacy PC to play older games on original hardware, I couldn't help but remember coming across some old G3 iMacs at a thrift store for $30. I had been very tempted to pick one up at the time, but couldn't justify it to myself at the time. I kind of kick myself for not getting one now, because a lot of the old games I have actually were made to work on both Mac and PC. One thing I would have been keen on doing, though, would have been replacing the CRT with a more modern LED monitor to help make the computer lighter. I say more modern monitor because it'd have to be one that had the old full screen ratio to fit in the CRT opening. Anyone ever see a build like that before? All I can ever seem to find are people completely stripping the guts of these machines and replacing the whole works with modern parts. I'd want to keep the old hardware and OS for vintage gaming purposes, though. Would it even be possible to just replace the CRT with an LED monitor?
