Are they going to rename the team too or are they going to claim their team is named after the world’s largest democracy?
It's about time. If the owners want to do it right, I hope they'll ask some of the descendants of the tribes from that region how to come up with a representation that's less offensive. The Chicago Blackhawks have a handsome logo that portrays an Indian warrior as proud and dignified. The polar opposite of Chief Wahoo. It is amazing how difficult it is for some people to do the right thing.
The Braves dropped their more offensive shit a few years back. They still do the tomahawk chop, but not many teams get to use an axe being used as a weapon to raise morale. I’m willing to fight to keep that, it’s awesome. I’m fine with changing the name as long as we keep the chop.
