It annoys me the vagueness of the time stamp on WF posts "4 hours ago", "9 days ago", "33 minutes ago" I like to see a normal date-and-time-of-day reading, (e.g. "3/2/07 at 12:45" or suchlike) so that even when it's hours or days hence you can tell the time of day it was made.

They've really been slacking off on moving these threads lately.

    I like both.

I'm not sure which one I like better.

An exact date time stamp would make my inevitable second victory in the Last Word thread easier to verify.

Yeah, I don't like the vagueness of most of the timestamps.

"1 hour ago" could mean anywhere from 1 hour to 1 hour and 59 minutes ago.

"1 day ago" could mean anywhere between 24 hours ago and 47 hours 59 minutes ago.

    I think there's even a "1 week ago" timestamp.

After a certain amount of time, they change from "x weeks ago" to the actual time and date. I think that cutoff should be changed to one day or so.

I think it should be like "2 hours 14 minutes" or something  or then when its >Day, 2 days 3 hours (No minutes) so on and so forth, just cut off the last one. I shouldn't be complaining to you, but to vB. DAMMIT DO IT!

vB certainly allows for a hh:mm, mm/dd/yy time format. This board just never seems to use it. I mean, we have the option to set our own timezone, daylight saving time settings, and starting day of the week, but that really isn't necessary with the way things are set up.

I think we should be given the option between having a timestamp or having the "x hours ago" thing. That might be something to take up with vB however.

I've notice NAHTMMM going back and editing his posts a few seconds afterwards with the "Reason for editing" filed filled in with "+timestamp".

I think it would be nice if posts had a good timestamp on them.

Maybe the Tech Guys could look into the options? Nick, O2C??

There is one after a while... at 5 weeks old, I believe. I can see about shortening that, but I happen to like the relative dates for a while. Maybe put the cutoff at 3 days or a week or something. I definitely do wish there was a bit more granularity on the relative dates though (1 hour 31 minutes ago, etc.) but I don't know if I can change that.

I think it would work best if there was both a relitive time and the actual time, something like "1 Hour ago at 11:59 am" or "1 Day ago at 11:59 am 03/17/07"

The new time stamping thing is cool and all, but...

Adjusting the time for the appropriate time zone doesn't seem to be working for me. I try to set my time zone to GMT -5 (US Eastern time), and all the times are one hour behind. When I try setting the time zone to GMT -4, they're all one hour ahead.

Then shouldn't selecting the time zone 1 hour ahead correct it?

Cause when I chose the next time zone over it jumped ahead two hours.

    Meh, whatever. I'll deal.

No, set it for your standard time setting -- the software corrects for daylight savings time. So I am set to GMT -0500, and this post will have a time stamp indicating 2:05 PM for me (even though that is actually GMT -0400). Computers are supposed to eliminate the need to manually adjust such things.

I wonder if this thing correctly takes into account Arizona's non-compliance with DST.

    EDIT: Hmmmm apparently so!

My guess is it plays off of your own computer's settings in some fashion.

Nope, you set it in your WF options actually.

How do I make it go back to the relative time? I don't want to have to do the math in my head.
